Hello! I also installed the SRE clutch in my ARL engine, even after experiencing clutch slippage. However, the old clutch wasn't really worn out, let alone glazed.
With the new clutch, I no longer have any slipping problems, but I have a different problem now.
The point where the clutch engages has shifted extremely high. I've bled the system twice already, but without success. The following parts were replaced: clutch slave cylinder, pressure plate, clutch disc, and dual-mass flywheel (DMF).
At first, I thought I might have installed the wrong clutch slave cylinder, which could have altered the engagement point, but according to Sachs, there's only one part from VW for the ARL 03 engine, and that's the one I installed.
I've been thinking about replacing the metering unit. However, I can't quite imagine how the pressure point could shift so high up due to the master cylinder. The clutch engages right at the very end of the pedal travel, which makes starting extremely annoying.
Does anyone have an explanation for this?

I've only experienced that even with new cars, the clutch often engages very close to the end of its travel. (We had a certain number of cars due to family members working at the factory).
Observed in both diesel and gasoline engines of various power classes.
I'm sure these are just minor tolerances. As long as it doesn't slip through, it's fine. It's still annoying, though.
As far as I know, you can't adjust the trigger pressure there anymore. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Audi A5 B8 Cabrio 2.0 TFSI/CNCD 225PS

Sure, there might be tolerances, but A) they shouldn't be that extreme, and B) if that were the case, it should have been like that all along!

Yesterday, I replaced the master cylinder, and the engagement point has shifted slightly.
The clutch disengages earlier, and the installation went smoothly. I only needed two attempts to bleed the system.
It's working great now.
If a new clutch needs to be installed, it definitely has to be an SRE brand.
