A4 8E: WIV Coding for 15000 Mile Interval

Hi!

I have an Audi A4 8E from 2003, with an AVF engine, sitting in the yard. Apparently, it's supposed to have "WIV" (likely referring to a specific software configuration) and be programmed for a fixed oil change interval of 15,000 km.

I have access to VAG-COM with a Hex + CAN interface.

1.) How can I verify if he actually has WIV?

2.) How do I set a fixed interval?

Unfortunately, there is nothing useful about this vehicle to be found in the technical articles or older threads.

In the main menu of VCDS, there's a button labeled "Applications" (or something similar). Within that, there's a button to "Reset service interval." Within that, you can select what you want to do from a drop-down box. You can choose directly from a plain text list, so you don't need to know any specific channels or anything like that.

It worked for me last time, but strangely, it only worked on the second attempt. So, it's better to double-check afterwards to make sure everything has been applied correctly.

There should be a "what's new" window appearing after each update, like in Windows, otherwise you wouldn't notice how easy it is now .
I remember that in my then-current 2005 version, resetting the interval was only possible via the adaptation channel or by coding.
