Hi.

Do the current 3-series BMWs have LED license plate lights?

There are simply too many of them, emitting that white-blue glow, to be just "tuning enthusiasts."

Could it be that they have that as standard equipment?
Can I install this on the 3C without causing the BNSTG to have a heart attack?

You can buy these at BMW and install them in your Passat. The part number is 63 26 7 193 293. If you also want original BMW connectors, you'll need 61 13 6 925 634 and the corresponding single-wire cables 61 13 0 005 197, and your Passat will have great BMW LED lighting for the license plate. I wondered where I got this information from, and why people are starting to modify license plate lights... until I saw that my BMW GS also has LED license plate lighting, and then I took a closer look at it at the dealer.

...and again, a little more of the 125 kW is available for driving icon_smile.gif.

Is there anything from Audi available there?
In a thread on a car forum, BMW owners mentioned something like that, but I haven't seen it on any Audis yet.

I don't know that...

...then it may improve your energy balance...

Okay, I wouldn't do anything... never touch a running system.

Nope, you've come to the completely wrong place.
Anything that works is first disassembled in order to understand how it works.

I believe the new BMWs (at least the 3 Series and possibly the 1 Series) have LED headlights.

There's nothing like that at Audi.

"In the Passat forum, there's an installation guide including part numbers."
These parts are designed to fit almost perfectly into the standard openings for VW/Audi vehicles (some minor adjustments with a Dremel tool may be required).

Since I might be planning something similar, I happened to ask our "Tüffi" about it.

I am allowed to use those lights.

but: what happens if I need to "modify" the lamp housings?
He says that as long as I don't mess with the "internal workings," it wouldn't matter.

"However, I still find it a bit too risky. It might be enough for the TÜV (German technical inspection), but what would an expert say in the event of an accident, for example?"

(I'm not really keen on making any modifications to the bumper.)

I had originally hoped that only the light sources would be different.

Replacing all those lights, and then finding out there's water in the trunk afterwards... I don't know.
And the 3C5 really gets quite dirty in the back...
