Hello, you experts out there!

It's a 2000 AJM model with 78,000 kilometers.

I've been getting the following error code in the control unit for a few days now.
17958 - Boost pressure: Control difference.
P1550 - 08-00 - Limit exceeded.

Today, while driving home, the car also switched to "limp mode." After turning it off and on again, everything was okay.

I've now tried to create a log file for measurement block 3 and 10. The engine was warm, approximately 80°C.

Where could the cause lie?
Can the LMM (lambda measuring module) be ruled out, and should the magnetic valve be considered?
Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with that, and I hope the log file is okay.

Download.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.

I'm sorry I didn't format it better, but I'm not very good with computers; I only have the basic skills needed to get by. Please excuse me.
Best regards, and thank you in advance!

Can anyone help me? I'm really scared to drive again, I'm afraid something else might break.

The error message itself pretty much says it all.

Your boost pressure is already too high at 0.5 bar, even without full throttle.

First tip: Search the forum for information about stuck VTG (Vehicle Trailing Gear).

Okay, so the mass airflow sensor values are okay, and the solenoid valve can be ruled out for now, right?

Okay, then I'll get started on it this Saturday!
Is it best to access it from below, like from the lift platform?
"Thank you."

Hello guys,

Okay, so I spent a few hours working under the car lift today, and here's the result.

So, I was able to move the rod back and forth when the engine wasn't running, but not by much, so I don't think it was 1.5 cm.

While the engine was running, I once detached the vacuum hose located under the diaphragm cover.

I attached a 30ml syringe and drew the plunger back, but nothing happened!
But when I disconnect and reconnect the membrane hose, the rod moves slightly.

How should I proceed? Should the engine be running or not?
What's the best way to access that threaded rod, do you think, from below?
I made a small rod, but it's not really the right one, is it?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Paddy,

I activated the solenoid valve for the VTG using the turn signal.
"I did all of this with the engine running and a little bit of throttle, while constantly monitoring the boost pressure using VAG-Com."
It's all explained in the article.

Best regards,

I bet the VGT is stuck.
Remove the turbocharger, disassemble it, and clean it. Check the pressure sensor to ensure it's not leaking.

Hey guys,

Okay, I'm now convinced that the VTG is just stuck, but I need your expertise to help me get further.

Even when the car is idling, if I open the hood and listen to the engine, I can hear a "thud-thud-thud" sound at different intervals. The engine makes this kind of noise, it's brief and then it stops, not very noticeable, but if you're familiar with engines, you can hear it.

Could it be related to the membrandose?

Okay, so I'm planning to connect the N75 valve to the turn signals. Where exactly should I connect it on the valve? Should I connect it to the side turn signals?
Please help me, I'm completely desperate!

//Edit

I just tried to activate the N57 (if that's what it is, see the pictures) using the side turn signal.

Does this work, or does it absolutely have to be connected to the relay? I unfortunately can't find a suitable answer in the search results icon_sad.gif.

Here's a photo of what I believe is my N57 sensor. When the engine is off, it reads 34-35 ohms.

However, nothing moved from the VTG strut when I turned on the turn signal with the engine running.

Hello,

Today, I tried the following:
I detached the lower hose at the top, where it connects to the valve (the one that comes from the membrane pump).

If I lower it, the VTG (Variable Geometry Turbine) moves slightly. I also tested the membrane; it works with a device that draws air, and the VTG moves accordingly.

When I drive in the default setting, the VTG (Variable Transmission Gear) only moves a minimal amount.
If I remove the vacuum hose and try to move the linkage with my fingers, it doesn't budge, whether the engine is idling, at a standstill, or with the hose attached.
It's always incredibly difficult, and there's no progress.

What would you do?
I'm getting a new solenoid valve tomorrow and I'll test it, but I don't think it will solve the problem.

Okay guys, I just tried pushing the VTG (variable turbine geometry) without vacuum, like my friend showed me, and it works perfectly fine with your fingers.

Not mine!
Okay, so I know what I have to do tomorrow. Mine is also quite swollen and not going up completely, and I can't push it up any further.

I'll try to make that work tomorrow.
Thanks guys, especially for recognizing that from a distance, my utmost respect!

Tip: First, just unscrew the outer casing, so you don't accidentally break the spring inside.

Hi Rainer,

Nice to read you in my thread icon_smile.gif.
So, I got the thing working today, and now I can move it manually, and I've also run the basic settings a few times, so I think it should be okay now. If not, I know what to do icon_smile.gif.

Thank you again.
Best regards, Patrick.
