Hello,

I have an Amarok with a CDCA 2.0BITDI engine.
It throws the following error:

5294 - Turbocharger Boost Control
P154F00 (039) - Malfunction.

I have already tested the boost sensor and the LMM (Lambda Sensor), the values are ok.

In the default settings, I have checked the turbocharger and the Biturbocharger and the AGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), everything is fine.

However, when checking the turbocharger boost control, it throws the above mentioned error.

It does not generate any boost pressure; in fact, when accelerating from a standstill, the value of the boost sensor before the intake manifold even drops slightly below the ambient pressure.

I have checked the vacuum hoses and the shafts of both turbochargers, and there are no abnormalities.

The calculated amount of ash in the DPF is approximately 20 grams according to VCDS.

I hope you can help me, I'm not a fan of randomly replacing parts.

I can't find anything online about this error.

Hello,

On the back of the engine, a corrugated pipe (AGR) connects from the exhaust manifold/turbocharger inlet side.

If this is broken or detached, the engine will not only smell terrible when stationary, but the turbocharger will also not receive any power.

A lift is required to access it.

Best regards, Rainer

Okay, I've also checked that, and it's fine.

What's surprising me is that I'm not getting an error message like "Loading pressure limit exceeded."

I've tried searching online for the error, but I haven't found anything really helpful.

Hi,

You're not mentioning the performance under load (i.e., under pressure). Could you also record the boost pressure from idle - light load - full load?

For example, if the compressor bypass malfunctions, you'll get too little air into the engine at idle and with light load. This is just a thought based on reading the VW Bi-Turbo description.

Does the wastegate function (close)?

He drives like a diesel engine.
Where should the bypass valve be located? I only know this valve from the T5 biturbo. I couldn't find anything about this valve on the Amarok.

The wastegate is closing. I removed the particulate filter and checked it, as one of my initial suspicions was a faulty flap.

I can gladly log the boost pressure while driving later this afternoon, once I have reassembled everything.

This could be complete nonsense, I remember seeing a video about car doctors where they had problems with a T5 or T6, the cause was the small turbocharger that wasn't producing enough pressure...

As I said, this could be nonsense.

Hi,

it's possible that the Bi-turbos differ between the T5 and Amarok. I was only able to examine the topic in two SSPs (Service Specifications). One was for the T5 engine and the other for the EA288 engine. And even for the latter, there is a vacuum-controlled bypass (Wastegate) for each of the two turbos on the exhaust side, and a bypass for the high-pressure compressor. And the error could be in one of these three starters.

Do you have a diagram of the charging system? Please link an image due to copyright.

Okay, I removed the bypass valve today; it was in good condition and didn't seem to be stuck or anything.

I only have one SSP from a T5 2.0 BITDI.

The setup seems to be identical.
The large turbocharger has a wastegate, while the smaller one is controlled by a valve in the manifold.
Both vacuum housings are functioning properly, or the rods are easy to move.

Take a look at the "Soll" and "Ist" values for air mass to see if you can identify any leaks. It's best to create a log. icon_idea.gif

The LMM values are normal when measured at rest.

I will go back tomorrow and log the Ladedruck and LMM soll and is values.
