Hello,

I have an Amarok with the CDCA 2.0 Bi-TDI engine.
He's throwing the following error:

5294 - Charge pressure control.
P154F00 (039) - Malfunction.

I have already tested the boost pressure sensor and the mass airflow sensor, and the readings are okay.

In the initial inspection, I checked the turbocharger, the bi-turbocharger, and the EGR system, and everything was in good working order.

He only throws the aforementioned error when testing the boost pressure control.

It doesn't generate any boost pressure; in fact, when you accelerate while the engine is idling, the value displayed by the boost pressure sensor, located before the intake manifold, actually drops slightly below atmospheric pressure.

I have checked the vacuum hoses, and the turbine blades of both turbos also show no abnormalities.

According to VCDS, the calculated amount of ash in the DPF is approximately 20 grams.

I hope you can help me; I'm not a fan of just randomly exchanging things.

I can't find anything about this error online either.

Hello,

On the back of the engine, a corrugated pipe (AGR) runs from the exhaust manifold/turbine inlet side of the turbocharger.

If it's broken or detached, the engine not only smells terrible when it's idling, but the superchargers also won't receive any power.

You need a lift platform to reach it.

Hi,
You're not saying anything about the performance under load. Could you also record the boost pressure from the start, at idle, under partial load, and at full load?
If, for example, the compressor bypass malfunctions, you'll get too little air into the engine when idling or under light load. That's just a thought that came to mind while reading the bi-turbo description from VW.

It drives like a naturally aspirated diesel engine.
Where should the bypass valve for the compressor be located? I'm only familiar with this valve from the T5 Biturbo, and I couldn't find any information about it for the Amarok.

The wastegate is closed. I removed the particulate filter and inspected it because one of my initial suspicions was a stuck or broken flap.

I'd be happy to log the boost pressure while driving this afternoon, once I've managed to reassemble it.

It could be complete nonsense, but I remember seeing a video from "Auto Doktoren" where a T5 or T6 had similar problems, and the cause was the small turbocharger not generating any pressure.

It's possible that the bi-turbo systems differ between the T5 and the Amarok. I could only review this topic in two technical service bulletins (TSS), one for the T5 and one for the EA288 engine. And even in the latter, there is a vacuum-controlled bypass (wastegate) on the exhaust side for each of the two turbines, and a bypass for the high-pressure compressor. And the error could be located in one of these three components.

Okay, so I took out the bypass valve today, and it was fine; it wasn't stuck or anything like that.
I only have a single SSP (Software Control Unit) from a T5 2.0 BiTDI.

The structure appears to be identical.
The large turbocharger has a wastegate, while the smaller one is connected via a valve in the exhaust manifold.
Both vacuum cups are working, and the rods move smoothly.
