Hello everyone!

Here's a problem that doesn't quite fit into the diesel community icon_wink.gif.
My mom's left window has been broken for some time now. A few weeks ago, the right window also stopped working icon_sad.gif.
I finally mustered the courage and removed the right-hand door panel to take a look inside. On both sides, you can clearly hear a clicking sound when the switch is activated. The motor also gets warm after the switch has been activated a few times, so there is power reaching the motor. However, nothing seems to be moving from the mechanical components...
If you alternately press the switch up and down, you can feel that something inside the motor moves a very small amount. I've also tried pushing the disc down at the same time as pressing the switch down (in case something might be stuck). But even then, nothing moves at all...
It makes me very suspicious that first one car and then, after 6 months, the other one broke down with the same symptom. I also went to VW and wanted to know if there might be a 'serial defect' with the window lifter, similar to what happened with the Golf 4. As always, they just dismiss it and say that these are all isolated cases and that they are not aware of this problem. icon_evil.gif
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or perhaps have a suggestion for a solution?
Thank you in advance for your help!

DENNIS.

Hello Dennis,

I'm familiar with this.

"Window lifter is difficult to operate."

Cause:
Due to manufacturing tolerances in the inner door panel, the window glass is not optimally guided. As a result, the glass no longer engages with the upper window seal at speeds above 80 km/h. Additionally, this causes the window to operate with difficulty.

Solution:
Check the window guides and, if necessary, widen any narrow areas to ensure optimal disc rotation during startup.
"If this does not achieve the desired result, washers must be placed under the lower attachment points of the window regulator mechanism so that the glass continues to move inwards from the top."
Tschüss

Hello!

Thank you for your help...
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to drive the car again. The solution, at least until the next malfunction, was quite simple. You drive over rough terrain and repeatedly try to operate the window lifters. After a few hundred meters, both sides started working again. icon_biggrin.gif
