Before you start working on the PDE (Positive Displacement Engine), you need to rule out other possibilities. First, you must ensure that both diesel pumps are working correctly and that the lines have sufficient flow (they need to be working properly, not just "approximately half"). Once the car is running again, you can also replace a fuel hose with a transparent one and then check for air bubbles.
Does the AXR engine also have an electric fuel cooling pump? Does it work? (Actuator test)
(It's not because of that; it only starts at 70 degrees Celsius. I just wanted to know.)
Okay, let's move on to the wiring harness. A reading of 0.06 is out of specification if you've measured correctly. You can certainly replace the wiring harness with a new one as a precaution. In any case, it's cheaper than replacing the PDE (Power Distribution Element). I would recommend, if you're replacing the PDE, to also replace the wiring harness proactively. But if you're saying it's already showing the problem at the connector itself...
To be able to test the PD-STG wiring harness, you actually need the VAG 1598/31 test box. I don't know if it's possible or how to do it temporarily.
And in front of the wiring harness is the (jerky) control unit.
You should try using the search function. I've read about it a few times, but never looked into it in detail because I don't have an AXR. Passat Variant BGW 2005

I don't think it has a pump. The fuel only flows through the fuel cooler.
Okay, let me do some research on that.
To test the wiring harness, I need a wiring diagram (but not one of those simplified diagrams from "do-it-yourself" books). I need to be able to identify the pin assignments at the control unit and then check for continuity and measure the resistance of the wiring harness.
It's strange that it was running, even if poorly, and now it's not working at all.

Okay, or check the repair manual, specifically the chapter on "Self-Diagnosis." It will tell you exactly what you need to measure. However, it assumes that you have access to the VAG 1598/31 diagnostic tool.
When our Sharan developed what's known as "injector failure," it required multiple visits to the workshop. The first time, it was running on only three cylinders. After that, it stalled twice more, and both times it made no noise. Then, it went silent for 5 months and started idling like a tractor. Finally, Ferdinand covered the cost of a new cylinder head with four new PDE (common rail) injectors. Since then, everything has been quiet.
"Each time, the injectors were faulty. What I mean is that this issue has multiple aspects. However, in each case, the Sharan also had error codes related to the injectors." Passat Variant BGW 2005

Perform an actuator test on the MSG. There's a section called "Fuel cooler relay." If it's working correctly, you should hear it click. Passat Variant BGW 2005

Okay, I'll do that.
I've just bought myself a winter coat. That will give me more time to think about it.

But that reminds me, we bypassed the fuel pump relay (if that's what you mean) and tried to start the car. Of course, it didn't work.

"No, I'm not talking about the relay for the pre-lift pump in the tank. I'm talking about the fuel cooler pump. It's not the problem either, because it only activates when the diesel temperature reaches 70 degrees Celsius. I just want to rule it out as a possibility." Passat Variant BGW 2005

I mean the fuel cooler pump.
...
It doesn't have that!

Okay, the vehicle is running again. We replaced the pre-injection pump and a PD element.
Thank you for your contributions.
