I would really like to get my hands on a turbocharger with electric boost control sometime. Something like from a Mercedes 220 CDi or 270 CDi, or similar. The electric control system probably responds faster than the one with a pressure sensor.
However, it's likely that installing something like that on a TDI engine would require significant modification. You would need to measure the boost pressure (or tap into the signal that is certainly available) and then build a small control electronics system.
Also, the connectors definitely do not fit, 100% certain.
But it's a nice idea, isn't it?

Um, our loaders have electric controls!
I don't know how Mercedes engines handle it, perhaps without using a regulated vacuum system. The TDI system is quite good and responds quickly if nothing is stuck. If the turbo boost were controlled directly, for example, using electric motors, you would likely have a higher failure rate, and to my knowledge, there are no advantages.
I've now driven 150,000 km, and it still works perfectly.

Yes, the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) adjustment is controlled by electric motors. However, it's definitely faster because the pressure sensor and the compressible volume (*g*) inside it naturally cause some lag. So, the solenoid valve opens, it starts to draw air, and then the linkage begins to move...
As far as I know, overboost situations can also occur. With electric adjustment, it's certainly possible to regulate the boost pressure more directly. However, this technology definitely has its drawbacks.
By the way, the VW Phaeton V10 TDI also uses electrically powered variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers.
