GRA Installation Issues: Troubleshooting Guide

Hi,

Yesterday, I installed and activated a GRA (Gas Recycling System) retrofit kit from VW in a Golf 4 Variant with the engine code AZD.
However, as soon as I activate the GRA (presumably a system or feature), almost all the lights on the dashboard illuminate, and the engine shuts off. It can then only be restarted by deactivating the GRA.

Once the GRA (presumably a setting or feature) is disabled, you can delete all errors without any problems, and they won't reappear as long as the GRA remains disabled.
What could be causing this? I've checked the wiring twice now, but I can't find any errors on my end.

Okay, but somewhere, a wire must be incorrectly connected.

Have you definitely connected the 4 pins that go to the engine control unit correctly? Was the GRA lever intended for vehicles with ESP?

As far as I can see, there's no ADZ engine code available, but there is an ASZ, a 96 kW / 131 PS TDI. Is that the one you have?

If so, please check it according to the following wiring diagram:


(1) SET switch (E227) GRA (red/yellow) T10S/3 (which is pin 3 of the GRA connector) >>> Engine control unit T121 / pin 44.

(2) GRA lever (E45) T10S/5 (white) >>> Engine control unit T121/46
