Retrofit AHK for Galaxy 1999: Installation Guide

I installed a fixed tow hitch on my father's 1999 Galaxy 1.9 TDI (81kW).
Everything went smoothly, and the installation of the electrical wiring was actually quite easy.
The description now states the following:

but how and in which vehicle system should I activate the trailer control light?
is completely beyond my knowledge...
I think it can actually only happen in combination (17), right?

Okay, after doing some more searching on the internet, I came across the following:

=> On-board network (09), not a combination (17)
Encoding.
Add +8 to the existing value, and everything should be fine.

Let's see if this works as planned...
