Driver's door won't open

Hello everyone.

I'm having a problem with my Golf III. The driver's side door won't open, but the door lock pin is moving normally. However, the door cannot be opened from either the inside or the outside.

Initially, I suspected something was loose, but after removing the door panel, I realized everything was fine; all the rods were properly attached.


I'm quite desperate now and don't really know what to do. It seems like the "latch" isn't releasing the door anymore. Is there a way to remove the lock from the inside?

Oh dear... it looks like the lock is broken. Before you start taking things apart, try hitting the door firmly (but not in the middle, to avoid denting it). Maybe, with a bit of luck, it will open. If it does, immediately remove the lock! Unfortunately, I don't know any criminal methods to pick the lock from the outside, and I don't think that would work anyway because of the broken lock.

Back then, I used small pneumatic tools to pry open the lock from the inside. I don't know what the layout is like in your case, but in my situation, the back door was the one that was used.

Thanks for the tip. The door panel is already off. I've already been fiddling with the door like an idiot, but I haven't tried hitting it yet. I'll give that a try tomorrow. It looks like I need to somehow pry the lock out from the inside. "So, you definitely can't get in there with large tools, I'm really at a loss."

Pneumatic hoses, pneumatic saws, etc. are quite small. I can't think of any other small tools right now.

Sometimes, you can try gently tapping the lock from the inside with a small hammer.

The idea with the hammer and a screwdriver was a good one .
The door is open again, but unfortunately, the lock is broken.
