Hi!

Due to my minor engine modification, I would like to monitor the exhaust gas temperature. I am aware that this can be achieved using an additional instrument. However, I would also like to log the EGT data using VCDS, which requires the data to be integrated into the "System Auto" section.

Is it possible to retrofit an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor using genuine VAG parts in a way that the data is present in the engine control unit (ECU, in my case, EDC15P), even if it's not further processed there? I already have the flange for the exhaust manifold, so the hardware installation of the sensor itself is not the problem. Are there any TDIs that are equipped with an EGT sensor from the factory?

Regards,

Fabian.

No, it's simply because there's most likely no EDC15 control unit for your engine that includes exhaust gas temperature measurement.
So, there will be no software for it, and the hardware is not prepared for it either.

The only thing that comes to mind is to use an external exhaust gas temperature sensor system that simulates, for example, the oil temperature as an output voltage, and then have this value processed by a modified engine control unit.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer!

It's a shame that the EDC15P can't handle the EGT - it would have been too good to be true... icon_lol.gif To be honest, I'm not deeply familiar enough with the EDC15P to be able to reprogram anything in that direction myself. Perhaps the MAF sensor value could be "modified" in my case, since nothing is arriving there anymore due to the MAF delete. But the software specialists should probably comment on that...

Best regards,

Fabian.
