Hello everyone,

I have a fundamental question.

Is there a way to modify the programming of a Climatronic system?

The following story explains the question, as I personally often experience fogging on the windshield:

In the Touareg owners' forum, I read that the problem of the windshield fogging up heavily on the inside, even when the air conditioning is set to automatic, is a known technical issue with the Touareg.

If I turn on the defroster function, it doesn't take long for the windshield to clear up again.
Back in automatic mode, the window fogs up again.

I've noticed that when the automatic climate control is on, the air only blows out of the front and lower vents.
The air vents for the windshield and side windows are completely turned off.

I haven't experienced this issue with other vehicles (such as Audi A6 C5, VW Passat 3B, or Audi 80 B4) that I've driven, which have also had automatic climate control.

Is it possible to modify this through the programming of the Touareg's climate control system?

Do you know anything about that?

Greetings and thank you.

Marcus.

Hello,

I am not aware of any reprogramming of the automatic function, other than software updates from VAG to fix errors.

Quote:
The inside of the windshield fogs up very heavily, even though the air conditioning is set to automatic.

Please also check if the water outlets in the water tank and heat exchangers are clear. Water can accumulate in or around the ventilation pipes in the dashboard, especially if the glued-in windows are not properly sealed.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

You're welcome.

I was almost expecting something like that.

No, the problem is that it seems to have occurred even in new vehicles, where the windshield fogs up on the inside – supposedly it's 'state of the art'...

It's a shame that something like this still happens with vehicles in such a high price range.

Have a nice Sunday.

Greetings.
Marcus.

'A car scan from the vehicle would be great; then we would also know some data like...'
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'For example, which type of thermostat is installed, whether it's a 2C or a 4C model, and other details.'
I am not aware of any general issues with the T-Reg's suspension.

I haven't really experienced that fogging issue in my cars either. I only had it once when there was water in the ventilation ducts because the window was poorly sealed.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'Ende' translates to 'End' or 'The end' in English.

It is a 4-zone climate control system.
But, as mentioned before,
This is probably a well-known problem in the Touareg forum.

'That's strange, I've never heard of that before... and I have 5 acquaintances who...'
It has been driven for approximately xx thousand kilometers.

I would like to know if this always happens.
Always after a long journey?
Only after a cold start?
Just briefly / always?

Besides, I find the Clima coding with '20030' to be unusual.
I have absolutely no idea what the '2' is supposed to represent in the code.
Maybe try using '00030' as the encoding to see if it works.
Alternatively, if it only applies to older generations.
replace with a more modern control panel.

http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Touareg-7L-Klimabedienteil-Climatronic-7L6907044AD-/370402563707?pt=Autoteile_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item563db6967b

And with that, let's start trying.

Are the rear ventilation grilles on the right/left side 'blocked'?

I assume you don't have ECON actively running.

Have you adjusted the basic settings of the motors (climate - basic settings - channel 1)?

P.S.: Pick up updates for the transmission and all-wheel drive at the dealer icon_wink.gif.

Good morning.

I experienced the 'problem' of fogging windows in my previous Touareg, manufactured in 04/2004, with a R5 TDI engine, only during the coldest winter months, at temperatures of -10°C, and with a minimum of 2 people in the car.

It always happens, whether it's a short or long distance.
It happens when it starts to rain – then I notice that my breath fogs up the window – no, I'm not blowing hard, just my normal breathing through my nose.

When the rain stops, the condensation also disappears.

Unfortunately, I can't say much about the coding – the car comes from Florida and was only brought to Germany in January.
Apparently, everything was supposed to be switched to 'German,' but I've already found out otherwise – the transmission, service indicators, etc., are still not in German.

I cannot confirm that it only affects older model years, as I mentioned, I already owned an older Touareg.

The climate control unit I found on eBay probably won't fit my car, because vehicles from 2007 onwards use the CAN-Bus 2.0 system - but it might be worth trying.

The ventilation flaps are clear - I checked that recently when I installed the German trailer coupling - and that's also causing a problem for me. icon_sad.gif

I never use the Econ mode; the air conditioning compressor is always running in my car.
I only recently had the air conditioning system refilled at the icon_smile.gif, because I assumed that the compressor would repeatedly switch off, possibly due to an insufficient amount of refrigerant.

I performed the initial setup, but I have to say that I probably 'interrupted' or 'stopped' it.

'When I perform the basic setting, all the LEDs and segments on the displays of the control units light up, and the fan motor spins up - after a few seconds, it stops, and in VAGcom, the basic setting remains active and doesn't turn off automatically. I then manually aborted it after about 2 minutes - I hope that's the correct way to do it.'
Since then, I've noticed a louder noise coming from the central vent of the ventilation system, starting around 70 km/h. It sounds like wind noise, which then stops and starts again – you can hear a flap opening and closing repeatedly, depending on the speed.

Regarding updates: Just stop icon_confused.gif.
I spent over 3 hours at the icon_smile.gif just to have a regular oil change done.
They mentioned that an update was installed somewhere, which was requested from VW in the USA, and that it's taking a very long time.
I'm in IT myself, and I just thought, what nonsense is he telling me?!

Who else could possibly do the updates? My icon_smile.gif told me that it's not as simple as with a computer, where you can just easily check if there are any updates available for my Touareg - it's very complicated, and I should therefore leave the car there for 1-2 days - but I will also have to pay for the labor icon_question.gif.

Sure, regarding the AHK:
'I'm not seeing the additional turn signal indicator when a trailer is connected - the car previously had a US-spec trailer hitch, but it wasn't registered in Germany.'
It already had a control unit and the wiring harness for the comfort control module installed, and it was completely wired in the same way as the one that came with the Westfalia tow hitch.
I only replaced the control unit; I took out the USA control unit and installed the new one from Westfalia – see also the 'strange' coding, which I can't explain or change.

And finally:
I also have the problem that the control indicator for the rear fog light is not displayed in the instrument cluster, even though the rear fog light is coded in all control units and also functions correctly.
The on-board network control unit's measurement data block also displays the status of the NSL (Non-Starter Light) switch as 'On/Off'.

Greetings.
Marcus.

The control panel not only *can* fit, it *must* fit.
since it's a direct replacement for the one currently installed. Actually, the index should be AK.
It's the last replacement option, but 500 euros is a bit more than what they charge for the 'second-to-last' one.
would like to list on eBay icon_wink.gif

Updates available at the dealership - if one is 'too heavy' for you.
Drive to the next one - it doesn't take 2 days to get there, and you don't need a MIT education for icon_wink.gif.

Regarding AHK coding - have you checked under VCDS/Options for the workshop code?
Some control units do not accept encoding when values like '123' or '12345' are entered, and require a format like '0000' instead.

The AI is also programmed for Canada - have you tried using the codes 7001 or 7011?
There are also more recent datasets available for AI, but I can't say whether...
These are also accessible from your relatively old location. In reality, they are only reachable from a level of 6xxx or higher.
The dealer would have to try, and either it works or it doesn't.

Good evening.

ah okay...

So, I drove my parents to the airport today.
The first 10 kilometers weren't a problem regarding frosted windows.
But then it started - and it really took off...

My father just said, 'Is your pollen filter clogged?'
He's new!

So, I've been experimenting with the air conditioning: opening the vents, using the automatic setting, the 'Econ' mode, etc.

It only worked if I manually switched the air vents to the upward position.
and I also increased the ventilation.

Suddenly, everything was fine again, just like when the air conditioning compressor suddenly kicks in.
Even the 'automatic' setting stopped causing problems, but not for long.
Approximately 5 minutes later, all the interior windows became so heavily fogged up, so quickly, that I almost had to stop.

I then read the error memory at home: of course, nothing! icon_evil.gif

What could that be?

Okay, I thought the control panel on my Touareg wouldn't fit anymore because of the new CAN bus.

Regarding the default settings for the air conditioning system: Is it correct that it doesn't complete itself even in VAG-Com, or did I really interrupt the process too early?

Regarding updates, I will icon_smile.gif address the issue again. It probably shouldn't be that difficult.

Regarding AHK: I'll give that a try, thanks.

And the AI was already recoded to '7111' during the KD process.
That should probably fit now.

Greetings.
Marcus.

Something must be wrong; this kind of thing can't just happen suddenly while driving.
if the system is working correctly. There might be a slight issue somewhere on the edge.
Depending on the weather, I might want to avoid areas with ice or snow, or places where there's a risk of getting stuck.
exclude, but I just drove almost 500 km this week in constant rain.
I drove through the Klima area (referring to a specific location, likely on a route) and didn't have any problems, so it's fine there.
I don't care if it's a company car, a T-Reg, or any other type of corporate vehicle with automatic climate control.

Hello,

Yes, that was very strange.
It was as if the air conditioning compressor was about to shut off right away.
But why? The air conditioning system has been newly filled, and there are no error codes in the system's memory.

I'm not sure if I might have caused any problems by resetting the basic settings.
It was never this bad before, that the windows would suddenly fog up completely.
Is there a way to tell if the compressor has turned off from underneath the vehicle?
Oh yes, the outside temperature was around 12 degrees Celsius - it's possible that the climate control system is receiving an incorrect value and is turning off the air conditioning due to a 'frost risk.'

Could you please tell me exactly how to 'deal' with the default settings?
I simply start it by clicking 'On' and then wait.
How long does this take, and do I need to manually stop it by clicking 'Off,' or does it run for a few minutes and then stop automatically?

Greetings.
Marcus.
