Hello,

I have already looked around this forum to see if there is a compatible diagnostic system for the V70 TDI.
I came across the Vol-FCR (Volvo fault code reader) program. Here in the forum, it is stated that it is compatible with the construction years 96-98.

My V70 I TDI AEL is manufactured in 2000, I suspect that the Vol-FCR (Volvo fault code reader) will not work for me.

I own a VCDS kit with the corresponding cable (from this shop). But I can't get anything done with Volvo.

Can anyone of you help me, what software and interface I need to read out measurements?

Greetings

Hey

can I, first we need to find out what kind of Volvo you have. the old model? and then I mean, you have an MSA 15.8 control unit - which in this case would be a disadvantage,

because - BRICKKDIAG - is a software in beta stage - developed by Daniel in the Volvo forum - currently only the 15.7 version is available.

As I am a beta tester and working with Daniel, I can discuss this with him regarding version 15.8. I would, however, suggest that we meet up and try it out on your car first. Hopefully, you have MS A15.7

Okay, thanks for the quick response!

So, it refers to the "old" construction design. V70 I, the successor to the 850.

I've only tried VCDS, but nothing happens when I connect it.

How can I quickly find out what MSA I have?
Should it really be on the STG?

If you're used to VAG cars, it can take a while to find the control unit in the V70! icon_wink.gif

The type should be clearly marked. The STG (presumably a control unit) is located at the very front, on the left side, inside the box when you are standing in front of the open engine compartment.

Hello,

thanks, it was meant ironically. icon_wink.gif

I will check it right away this evening.

With a production date of 05.2000, it should definitely be OBD2.

Well, OBD2 is correct. And with a universal tool, you can also do a lot.

it's just the question of what you want to do.

The prerequisite is first having the right cable. I had some kind of ELM part from previous projects - that doesn't work.

USB KKL Adapter with FTDI FT232x Chip

Costs a slap and works pretty reliably. AGV is possible, but only through some sort of workaround.

and then it's a matter of software. As I said, universal software can be created, and the pre-approved things can be tested/checked/deleted.
I mean, error reading/deletion should be possible - deleting the service should also be possible - but much more is questionable. The information that the emergency service needs is the approved data.

With a special software that can communicate with the tax devices, you naturally have many more possibilities.

and if you then also manage to get the necessary PIN codes for the control units somewhere, then you are in control of your car and can - of course, depending on the software - configure your car icon_biggrin.gif

I have the pins for the engine control units and the brickdiag beta, and I've already done quite a bit. I've programmed keys, set up services, and adjusted various parameters (e.g., setting idle speed, tire sizes...).

The HEX-USB+CAN and HEX-USB diagnostic cables from the professional/semi-professional system. KKL diagnostic system from the shop can comply with ISO9141-2.

See the video here under the technical articles and specific device drivers in the customer account. Therefore, no additional diagnostic cable is required.

@ Rainer

So, I just need the right software.

I bought this a while ago - Semi-professional. Diagnosis system EOBD/OBD2 KKL (USB) purchased in the shop.

That means with this (COM-Port Emulation Driver for KEY-USB (Semi-professional) Diagnosis system EOBD/OBD2 KKL (USB) and HEX-USB+CAN (VAG-COM/OBD2 diagnostic professional system KKL+CAN (USB)) for using the diagnostic hardware with third-party software, (0.8MB)
Driver, is it possible to use "third-party software"?

Which one, specifically, is compatible? (with similar functions to VCDS!)

Have you tried VOL-FCR? With that, you should definitely be able to establish a connection with the cable.

if that works, then please check the equipment accordingly.

and regarding the software, I don't think I can help you further here. brickdiag seems to be the only useful one - unless vol-fcr is already sufficient? (but it probably costs the same anyway??)

You definitely need specific programs for the Volvo – they have proprietary protocols and so on. The best VAG software won't help.

Hello,

"On the control unit, it says:"

It is a Bosch 0281001776

Nearby is also H9.2 VOLVO

What MSA are we talking about now?

Yes. Compatible with all SW that expects an ISO9141-2 diagnostic interface.

Hey

yes, it should be MSA 15.8 - doesn't it have a latch that opens?

I mean that MSA 15.8 should also be the standard starting around 2000 (i.e., around September 1999).
