Engine codes for the VOLVO 850 TDI

Hey everyone,

I converted my 850 T5 into an 850 TDI. I'm having a few problems with it, such as excessive smoke. But first, I would like to know the engine codes that apply to me.

If you have installed the original 5-cylinder engine (140 hp), then...
The engine code should be AEL. For a while, Volvo used engines sourced from Audi, but the newer diesel engines, starting in 2001, were developed in-house.

... or maybe not. They come from the FORD system...
... At the very least, FORD was involved in the development of the (new) Volvo engines.

The new engine from Volvo certainly has nothing to do with Ford, because the engine was already fully developed at the time of the acquisition (based on Volvo's own 5-cylinder aluminum gasoline engine). Furthermore, as far as I know, Ford outsourced the development of diesel engines to Peugeot (who are just throwing money at it), since Ford has never developed a decent diesel engine themselves; they would have been the last company that could have supported Volvo.Best regards,
