Hello, the window switch on the driver's side sometimes malfunctions. It's a known issue with the Passat/Golf.
A new switch block costs approximately 35 €.
If you're skilled, you can often repair it yourself (at VW, they just replace everything!).
Beneath the rubber mat, there is a circuit board with contact areas. These areas are connected by conductive sections on the underside of the rubber. (Those who have ever opened a remote control (TV, Hi-Fi, video, etc.) will know what I mean.)
And this conductive layer on the rubber is no longer conducting properly.
The error code in my car's system indicated: "Driver's side switch, implausible signal, intermittent."
I got some "graphite spray" and applied it to the damaged areas in MULTIPLE LAYERS. And I made sure to let it dry completely in between each layer!
That allows these areas to drain again, and everything is okay!
It also works with remote controls (something I've been doing for years).
Nowadays, there are also repair kits available for remote controls. It probably wouldn't be very different from my method. I haven't tried it yet, though. Gruss Ralf
