If you're asking about wishes, then I'll just express my own personal ones. Whether these are sensible or not, feel free to discuss. Unfortunately, I can't contribute much to their implementation myself, but the question was only about wishes, not about implementation.
'I often see questions about the differences between the various engines, so it might be a good idea to expand the table of engine codes. Personally, I would find it interesting to see information such as the type of turbocharger (wastegate/VTG) and in which vehicles the engine was used. Any additional details would, of course, be a positive thing.'
For example, I found it very interesting that there were two different versions of the 1Z (see here), on the other hand, I haven't even found any differences between the 1Z and the AHU (which is probably more due to my own inability).
For many, it would certainly be interesting to know which TDI engines they could easily retrofit (e.g., if someone's 90hp engine fails, they could upgrade to a 110hp one...). It would be interesting to see if some engines are more suitable for this than others (and why). In my opinion, it would be great if this information could be derived from the MKB table (keyword: compatibility).
As I said, these are just my personal ideas, so please don't be too critical if they don't interest anyone else or if they are not feasible. This was just about expressing wishes. However, I am happy to discuss these points further.
Regards,
-Private

Hey Rainer, now that you've asked...
I don't think the frame layout is quite right. The right side is okay, except that sometimes the text in the posts is too long and doesn't wrap to the next line.
The left-hand side is a bit cluttered. Specifically, the sub-points in the troubleshooting section are confusing. The descriptions for the frame width are too long. I would suggest adding a single link, either 'Troubleshooting' or 'Instructions,' to the frame. This link would then open an overview page in the right-hand frame, where all the article titles are displayed in a clear and organized manner.
If possible, please optimize the background image size a bit. It sometimes takes a very long time to load (with my 57kbps modem at home).
A very good and very easy-to-use program for optimizing images is, incidentally, 'WebGraphics Optimizer' from http://www.webopt.com/german/index.html..
Otherwise, I don't have any other complaints and I'm very satisfied with the site. Keep up the good work.

Hello, thank you for the tip about the background image!
Next week, I will take care of it.
It would be best if I reviewed all the images again to see if they can be better compressed or reduced in size.
Regarding the menu on the left: Since the articles, troubleshooting guides, tutorials, and tips & tricks are integrated into the forum software, it will be redesigned soon.
I've considered removing the left frame altogether, but having the navigation frame remain fixed offers advantages, especially when navigating with frequent scrolling up and down.
Suggestions for page layout: Bring them on!
The following disadvantage of the forum software has also been noted:
Quote: | | particularly annoying: the lack of an overview of what was written in each individual thread |
Installed.
Furthermore:
Quote: | | long loading times |
Mal sehen, wo man noch einige Bytes abknabbern kann...
Checked, reduced the size of the "Print Preview" image, and changed the number of topics per page from 60 to 32.

Hi Rainer,
I completely agree with getting rid of the left-hand frame!
I've been using the forum since the beginning without the left-hand frame (you can specifically target individual frames with Mozilla), and I've never had any problems with it.
On the contrary, if you read the forum, it's very advantageous (because the entire space is dedicated to the forum), and if you want to access one of the specialized articles, you can specifically open the entire page â with the integration, it will become even easier.

Hi Rainer,
I think that about 90% of the traffic goes to the forum, and it's probably even more â the forum is essentially the central part.
Therefore, I would simply divide the "rest" into a maximum of 4 subcategories (e.g., articles, tips and tricks, links, etc.) and integrate them into the forums, specifically where the terms of service, etc., are currently located. Perhaps in a different color to make them easier to find, but this way they would always be present and easily accessible without a significant overhead (a few bytes per page).
Best regards,
Jan. 1Z5 CFHF / AHB H4D

Hi,
One issue will likely be resolved soon: The information is currently a bit scattered and disorganized, with tips, articles, etc.
In Netscape 7.0, I find it annoying that a new window opens when I click on the next page of a long thread.
That little popup is annoying. Especially when I want to discreetly check something out from my workplace. GruĂ Christian

Hello.
I agree with that.
My suggestion:
1. Combine all Quote: | special features (old articles on the main page, error database, and new tutorials, etc., within the community) into one place that is directly accessible via Rainer's website - similar to the previous article folder.
2. divide this new space into
a) Function descriptions (e.g., VTG, RWG, glow plug heating, AGR, CT-box comparison, etc.).
b) Factory information, as entered into the (previous) error database by Michael II.
c) DIY Tips (e.g., 10c tuning, diagnostic adapters, VAGCOM troubleshooting, auxiliary heaters, solutions for engine misfires, etc.).
d) If applicable, workshop tips for troubleshooting/preventing common errors (this would be based on the experiences of forum members).
e) If necessary, additional categories for information that doesn't fit into categories a-d, although I can't think of any right now.
Then, individual contributions should be released for immediate updates by the respective authors (instead of everything having to go through Rainer, as has been the case with the "old articles" so far).
-> That would be roughly my ideal vision of structure and relevance.
| Das kleine Popup nervt mich auch. Speziell wenn ich mich mal unauffÀllig von meinem Arbeitsplatz aus vorbeischauen will. }
I find it quite useful now: When I close or minimize the forum's direct link, I can immediately access the "expert articles" section, etc. GruĂ Ulf

Hello,
Here's what I've changed so far:
- Reviewed the graphics; unfortunately, only one could be optimized.
- Reduced the number of topics per page from 60 to 32.
- Remove unnecessary statistics.
- Tooltip for each topic showing the date of the last post.

Hi Rainer,
to bring a subordinate clause from a post by Ulf over here.
Could it be that the "attachment" function is only available for "professional users"? I haven't been able to find it, and neither has Ernst S., as far as I know. In my opinion, it would be useful to expand this feature, as it's often necessary to include diagrams or images.
It would also have the advantage that it would still be available later, even after it has been deleted from the mostly temporary web space (which is the current solution).

Hello Rainer,
I have another suggestion for improvement: the ability to include one's own vehicle data and possibly its history in the user profile.
Many people already have this permanently included in their profile signature, but since there are still many users who don't have it, this would be a good place to display it as well. This information could also be requested during the registration process...
It's just a question of whether the forum software allows for such additional queries...
I think the changes made so far, especially the removal of the frame, have been very well done.
Regards,

Definitely doable .
