Hello,

As stated in this technical article: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=6593 it seems to make sense to enlarge the intake snorkel from the air filter box.

Is there anyone here who has already found a practical solution for this? I don't just want to cut off the snorkel because then it would simply draw all the water spray from the inner fender directly into the air filter. I was thinking of a pipe construction, but I'm missing the right approach.

"It would be great if someone could provide practical approaches for the following engine codes:"

ALH, AGR, ASV, AHF

Specifically referring to the Seat Ibiza, Polo 6N, 6N2, and Caddy models, all of which have the air filter housing that I use.

In various V6 TDI engines, the intake air was partially drawn in through a snorkel and partially from the engine compartment through a second intake opening.

With proper intercooling (which the Ibiza doesn't have), it's possible to do that.

During a "weekend tinkering session" where we were experimentally pushing an ALH engine to the limits of what's possible with software, I quickly drilled a few holes with a diameter of 20mm into the lower part of the air filter housing.
The intake air temperature remained within an acceptable range despite the significantly increased charge air pressure, and as a result, the target boost pressure was regulated much more precisely in the higher RPM range.
That was a G4, not an Ibiza.

hello,

Yes, the article actually mentions the holes, but I'm looking for a "clean" solution and don't want to have to drill any holes.

I just checked, and there are no alternatives for the air filter housing regarding the nozzle. The only other option is the ALH/ASV engine in the Audi A3, which has a different air filter housing with an intake from the front, above the bumper... but I'm not sure if that would fit. And the cost of the materials is well over €150, because I would have to replace the entire air filter housing.

See if you can use anything from the Cupra.

It certainly costs money, but do you want to make a meaningful change, or are you looking for a quick fix?

That feature only works with the Ibiza 6L model, starting from 2003.

"In my model, there wasn't a Cupra TDI option, and the Cupra gasoline engine has the same bottleneck as mine, unfortunately..."
