Hello everyone,

First of all, let me clarify that I don't drive a diesel; I have an A6 C4 2.8E automatic. I would be very grateful if you could still help me.

Here's the translation:

"Also, one more thing: I'm not tech-savvy and can't perform the recommended steps myself. What I need is your expertise, or how I can find someone who has the knowledge to help me solve my problem."

If you find my requests unwelcome here, please let me know.

Subject:
"I was experiencing shifting problems with the automatic transmission (generally rough shifting and a kind of "slippage" when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear at half throttle between 50 and 60 km/h - and only then). The automatic transmission was rebuilt, and the mass airflow sensor (MAF) was replaced. The problem still persists."

"The mechanic's diagnosis: faulty control unit. During a road test, the data display on a VAG 5751 (I believe) remained frozen for 3-8 seconds when accelerating, and then sometimes the display would reappear, while other times it would show an error message regarding a faulty data connection. However, the engine control unit (ECU) itself could be observed without errors."

Then, in the manual's appendix, I read that the transmission has 4 programs: an economy program, a sport program, a replacement program, and an emergency program. It states that the replacement program is characterized by more aggressive shifting.

Questions:
1. How can I determine (or have determined) whether my transmission has these programs?
2. How can I determine which program is currently running?
3. How can I determine (or have determined) whether the starter generator has a fault (even if the error memory is clear)?
4. Can the graphics card be repaired? (A new one costs a hefty €750 and is not available for exchange.)
5. Does anyone have a suggestion or a different idea on how I can approach this problem?

Vehicle: Audi A6 C4 2.8 automatic, manufactured in May 1995.
Transmission: AG4 from ZF with control unit 4A0 927 156 AE.

Okay, I've rambled on for quite a while now - but thank you for reading and, if possible, for helping out.

Thank you very much.

Greetings from the edge of the Ruhr area.
Joachim.

After not receiving even the smallest hint from this forum, I did some research myself and found a solution: After resetting the entire electronics (there's a specific process for that), everything worked again; the slipping issue is gone.

Thank you again for the detailed feedback.

Your problem was something quite exotic.

If someone knows something about a specific wine, they usually write it down.

"Nevertheless, thank you for your description of the solution."

Good day.

ich suche gerade nach Ursachen meines Problems mit der Automatikgetriebe. Your problem.
It's similar to what I have.

Where can I reset all the electronics?

I will check the engine specifications later on the Audi's documentation.

Best regards,
Thomas.
