Hi.

After being separated from the 1Z engine and its timing chain issues for 4 years, I'm now hearing the timing chain of my BMR engine rattling at idle.

It also fluctuates by almost 1 cm.

I think I remember that, at the beginning of our relationship (when the car was new), it didn't move at all.

Just spend 80 euros and get a new one?
Already after 75,000 km?

Are these items still considered wear parts, like brake pads?

It also vibrated a lot for me, but it turned out to be a faulty alternator clutch.

Yes, that one is still there.

Well, in terms of cost, it will probably end up being the same.
Unless the failed freewheel "took" the retaining element with it.

Something to tinker with again... Hmm icon_confused.gif

If you don't wait too long, simply replacing the freewheel icon_wink.gif will be sufficient.

Okay.

I'm building this T10060A and I'm going to test it with BLS and BMR - they have the same Lima.

Hello Martin,

You can find special tools for loosening the freewheel at a low price online. Check out the link, then go to page 4 and look at my posts, as there are direct links to the tools.

It's quite affordable, but it's still a decent product.

Thank you, Sven.

I've had the pleasure before, so I already have everything you (at least on the 1Z) need.
Hazet nut and long VZ10 socket.

It's best to use an impact wrench so you don't have to apply counter pressure, which probably wouldn't work anyway.

Compressor is stuck (pressure regulator is faulty).

I'm going to check out this spectacle and report back.

Okay,

All clear.

I used a British-made tensioning device to tighten the tensioning element and secured it with a Spax screw (model T10060A, which is a very cheap option).
Loosen the belt.
The freewheel is perfect: In the manual test, it engages smoothly and allows the rotor to spin freely immediately.

The "fluttering" of the span element was noticeably less today than I saw yesterday.
However, the noise level can be influenced by touching the tensioning element while the engine is running.

I'll keep an eye on it, especially when it gets warmer.

I'll still make a suitable blocking pin, because a 4mm drill bit is too long to fit past the diesel filter.

A diameter of 4.5 mm and a length of 45 mm should be perfect.
