Can someone tell me if the afterglow duration, when the coolant temperature sensor is disconnected, is controlled by relay 103 regardless of the sensor's value, and if so, how long does it last?

Hi,
Since the AHU is almost identical to the 1Z, the annealing process should be the same for both.
The VW SSP states "Afterglow always occurs." In contrast, Korp states "Afterglow only occurs below 0°C, duration 30 seconds; at -30°C, duration 2 minutes." This is roughly what I observe on a cold engine, with an estimated duration of 1-2 minutes.
If you disconnect the plug from the temperature sensor, the afterglow should have its maximum duration.
What do you mean by relay 103? The afterglow is controlled by the MSG (Main System Controller). The current to the glow plugs is switched by J52.

If you unplug the temperature sensor, the afterglow should have its maximum duration.
Okay, that helps me for now.
I assumed that after the start-up process, the afterglow duration is initially set to the maximum duration by the relays. However, this duration is only interrupted if the engine speed exceeds 2500 rpm or the water temperature exceeds 30°C.
'Since I currently have a faulty temperature sensor, I disconnected the connector so that the preheating would work for a longer time, allowing the engine to start properly again. I was wondering if the preheating would then continue indefinitely below 2500 RPM or 30°C (since the system doesn't receive the actual value with the connector disconnected), or how it's regulated.'
Conclusion: I can keep driving like this for now (with the temperature sensor connector disconnected) until I replace the temperature sensor - is that correct?
