EDIT Mod: Topic branched off from https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=23802.

Hello diesel mechanics,

Two days ago, I was driving my G5 GTsport (engine code BMN) on some bumpy roads, and suddenly the warning light for the exhaust system came on!

The car was generally driving normally, but the DSG transmission was suddenly shifting very jerkily... especially when downshifting. It was very slow and felt like the gears were being engaged very gradually.

I read the error codes at home, but I attributed the error to the bumpy road and thought it might be a temporary contact issue, so I cleared the codes!

It was gone again until this afternoon... on the highway, the warning light for exhaust emissions came on again. I continued driving, and after another 15 kilometers, the warning light for the DPF also came on. I could feel the issue with the shifting again, and there were also brief interruptions in the acceleration - which was very noticeable because I was using cruise control!

Okay, I've reviewed it again and here's the result:

- Is the person with the name 03G 906 051 A also responsible?

- Does this error disable the DPF regeneration process, or how does it explain the sudden appearance of the warning light?

- Does this have any impact on the transmission control unit (TCU) map? Just for your information, there are no error codes stored there.

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards, Alex icon_smile.gif

Edit: 1. The error was the same the first time, 2. This is the sensor with this part number that is also installed in my car!

Update:

Since my car still has a worldwide warranty, and I obviously wanted to handle it through that, I went straight to the VW service center here in Graz on Wednesday.

Okay, I accepted the offer, explained the problem, and left the car there. Then, just to be safe and to inform him beforehand, I contacted the salesperson who connected me with the car.

The car was ready on Thursday... the sensor was replaced, the DPF was regenerated... AND:

MSTG updated to software version 4356!

I've already driven about 300 km, but I haven't been able to notice any real differences yet, neither in fuel consumption nor in top speed. I need to drive a bit further to see any significant changes!

Regarding acceleration, I can say that it sometimes feels a little "gentler." It feels like the turbo boost builds up a moment later/slower, especially during kick-down situations on the highway. I even experienced a noticeable jerk once when shifting from 6th to 4th gear during a kick-down. However, that's been the only thing I've noticed so far!

He's likely very close to achieving top performance... I'd be happy to create some logs if anyone is considering doing such an update, or simply wants to know where the actual differences lie.

The shifting problem has largely subsided, although it still seems a little slower to me (probably very subjectively) than it was before the exhaust system warning light came on!

So much from my side... if anyone would like to compare logs, I'd be happy to help - if there's any need for it icon_biggrin.gif.

Thank you, and best regards from Austria.

Alex.
