Touran: Intermittent P01314 Error - Solved

Hello!

"I'm having a problem where, when I turn off the engine and try to start it again, it doesn't start."
I have to turn the ignition on and off about 20 times before I can establish communication with the control unit.
When the car is running properly, I have no problems and can drive it without any issues.

If the engine doesn't start and the cooling fan starts running when you turn the ignition on, and the engine check light doesn't illuminate, then...

I have already tried replacing the 3 relays in the fuse box as a test, but there's been no improvement.

Does anyone know this problem?

Okay, I just measured the connector for the MSG (presumably a module or sensor) and I'm not getting any positive voltage on pins 5, 6, and 3.

Only pin 18 has 12V when the ignition is on.

Have you checked the fuses? Terminal 30 should be receiving power.

I've now taken measurements again on the affected components, and I'm seeing 12V on all three wires.

I took a photo, and I can see the error code on the VCDS display, but I can't read it when the engine light and the glow plug light are not illuminated.

And that's what it looks like after about 20 attempts of turning the ignition on and off, and then the engine starts, and the engine check light and glow plug light come on.

Error memory is empty.

It's getting better and better .

Possibly, it can be done without using terminal 30; otherwise, diagnosis via CAN?

No matter what, there needs to be power flowing to the specified pins on the engine control unit.
I still believe that it is a power supply issue.

You mean that if the connector is unplugged from the control unit, I should have power at the pins, but I don't.

When I connect the device, I get 12V. I think that pin 49 outputs a switched ground signal from the engine control unit (ECU), which then provides ground to the main relay, specifically terminal 85.

Are the mass connections at control unit T94 checked? Specifically, connections 1, 2, and 4?


I've gathered some information on this, although it might not be very helpful since it's already been processed. Hopefully, this is the right approach.


Pin 3,5,6 of the engine control unit, red/green (twisted together) --> SB11 (30A) --> Relay (J317), terminal 87, switches to terminal 30.

The same relay (J317) and circuit also power SB 9, 6, 7, and 12.

Supply relay (J317): kl86 --> SB26 --> kl.30. Pin kl.85 connects to the engine control unit (ECU) at pin T26/19 (black/gray). When the ECU releases the ground connection, the relay (J317) is activated.

Power supply from STG via T94/18 (black/blue) --> SC26 (10A) --> 15/1 -->(black/red) SB40.

Okay, I've re-measured everything again. The three ground cables from the engine control unit are fine.

For testing purposes, I connected the ground wire to pin 85 and measured the voltage at the motor terminal. I got 12V on all three wires, and 12V on T94/18 when the ignition is on.

The engine control unit also connects the ground connection through to relay KL.85 when the ignition is turned on.

Is it possible that the EEPROM in the control unit has a defect, and is there a way to check this?

I've now done a preliminary setup of a table using the control unit.

Pin 6: Class 30.
Pin 18, Class 15.
Pin 72: K-line.
Pin 4: Ground.
