VTG Rod Too Long? Solutions & Fixes

Hello everyone,

I have a freight car that recently received a new AT-type loading system because the VTG-type loading system on the old one was malfunctioning more and more often, causing the engine to go into emergency mode.
The new turbocharger is installed and running. However, the engine feels weak, and I have to press the accelerator pedal much more than before, especially in the 4th and 5th gears. I did a test drive, and the target boost pressure is being reached, and the actual pressure follows the target pressure with minimal delay. According to my mechanic, everything is okay.
'Years ago, I shortened the VTG linkage on the old turbocharger, and I know that the turbocharger sometimes overboosted, reaching pressures of 1.3-1.4 bar. This was especially noticeable with the 10ct tuning.'

To put it simply. Before I start rambling, is it possible that the observed effect is caused by a VTG rod that is too long? Is it really possible that a shorter VTG rod would make such a noticeable difference?

Back then, it was definitely both. Today, all I care about is that the car runs, so I'm going to leave it alone for now. However, the engine has been running for the last 10 years or ~250,000 km with a shortened VTG rod. Unfortunately, it's been so long that I no longer remember exactly what I did back then.
Basically, the information that it might be due to that is enough for me; I don't want to put excessive strain on the old engine. On the other hand, it's obviously annoying when you feel like you're lacking power. Thanks for your reply.
