Hi,
Wanted to share some good news: we had a Sharan that was having trouble starting and also showed signs of problems in the diesel fuel system. After a thorough search, the cause turned out to be quite simple, and it seems the problem wasn't just there.
The fuel gauge was bent, and therefore always showed a bit more fuel than was actually present, and the air intake hose was also crooked. There is a sliding system that should move with the tank volume, and it was fixed in the upper position.
Fuel tank replaced, and runs perfectly, starts immediately again, and no more bubbles.
Costed around €70.
Subsequently, I also had a 2.0 TDI, which also had its share of problems, and I also found a bent intake manifold in the fuel tank...
However, there was nothing visibly wrong with either of the vehicles, but after removing the sensor, it was clearly visible that the intake pipe was bent.
On the A3, the fuel gauge worked perfectly, and was very accurate, as promised!!!
Maybe worth a try for one or two, so take a look!
