Hello,

Now it's running again. Apparently, I had made the mistake of marking the OT (Top Dead Center) crankshaft position with a screw in the pulley hole – I thought it was at the top and on the vertical axis. After that, I adjusted everything, but it seems I got it completely wrong.

Okay, I've now aligned the crankshaft to the timing mark on the flywheel. There are two notches there, and the slightly larger one is labeled "0". I initially assumed this was the top dead center (TDC) mark. However, I couldn't get that mark to align perfectly with the pointer while also aligning the camshaft TDC directly with its corresponding pointer. What was particularly frustrating was that when tightening the timing belt, either the crankshaft or the camshaft would shift position. However, even if you initially adjusted everything slightly out of alignment before tightening it, there was always approximately a half-tooth offset between the camshaft gear and the crankshaft timing mark.

When checking the ignition timing, the setting should be 6° before top dead center (BTDC). However, I'm not sure how to adjust it. In the distributor, there's a large notch with a drawn arrow, which suggests that you should align with that. But since there's a "0" marked on it, and the small notch might be approximately 6° away, I assumed that you need to adjust to that instead? I took the car for a short test drive with both settings, and it actually ran really well in both cases. How would it have been done correctly?

Regarding the oil issue: I also removed the camshaft gear again. It was slightly oily again, but only in the outer areas. There was nothing on the spokes, and I couldn't find anything on the camshaft itself either. There was also nothing to be found under the valve cover gasket in that area. At the moment, I have no idea where the oil is coming from. During today's test runs, the camshaft gear also remained dry icon_question.gif.

If I remember correctly, the notch should be the timing mark.

I would leave the Simmering alone for a while, or at least observe it.
With a little luck, it will break in and become leak-proof.

How else can you determine if the ignition is "correctly" adjusted? Currently, there are no warning signs, it has power, and it's not misfiring. The driver needs to test the fuel consumption. However, as I mentioned before, it was the same when set to both notches.

After driving 30km home last night, the new oil hasn't been added to the CVT transmission yet.

That's how it always was with the old 827 model, which had an intermediate shaft.
When adjusting the ignition timing, the DLS (Dynamic Load Sensing) must be deactivated (if present) to ensure the correct adjustment. Otherwise, the supposedly marked location might "disappear" or become unreliable.

Okay, that's how I have it set up right now.

Oh, the instructions for the ignition tester said to clip the probe onto the cable from the first spark plug - but that didn't work. According to RLF, the connection to the ignition coil was made as described.

So, the default setting mode in "Old-fashioned".... icon_lol.gif .... Edit: but the DLS was only available up to the MonoJetronic. In the MonoMotronic system, everything was controlled via the fuel injection system.
