1.2L Polo 3-cylinder cylinder head cover

Hello!

I'm currently doing a timing belt replacement on a 2006 Volkswagen Polo 1.2.

I'm currently re-sealing the cylinder head cover. According to VW, you should use the green sealant D154 103 A1. I applied the sealant to the cover, but after about 24 hours, it's still liquid.

How long does it need to cure?

"24 hours should definitely be enough. Could it be too cold where you are, or is the sealant past its expiration date? Or are only the parts that have been exposed to air still liquid?"

It's probably around 10-15 degrees Celsius here.

The packaging indicates that it is usable until 07/14.

I'll wait until Monday; I hope it will be dry then.

Do you also use the green sealant to seal the control unit housing?

The sealant should be suitable. It cures on metal when exposed to air, i.e., after assembly. Perhaps only the excess material is still liquid?

Absolutely, the vehicle is ready to operate immediately after assembly. It only becomes hard on the outside after days or weeks.

...somehow, I found the older seals more appealing...just my opinion...

The tube containing 100g costs €50.

According to VW, there is a different sealant for the control unit housing, costing €25, which will likely be purple .

...where money can be made...at least, thank you for the information...
