USB CAN Interface: Driver Installation Issues?

Hello,

After installing the software on my Windows XP computer, the drivers for the USB interface are not being loaded.

The installation routine is searching for the necessary files on the computer! But it's not finding anything???

Where could the problem be?

Other USB devices are installed without any problems.

The error occurs on all USB ports of this computer!

Software installation location: Standard.

I just installed version 12.12 yesterday on an old XP computer.
In the final stage of the installation, the drivers are "forcefully" installed.
Depending on the security settings of Windows ( ), it may happen that...
a query asking whether the drivers should be installed despite the issue.
( -> yes).
Before the setup program closes, a window is also displayed that...
displays the successful driver installation.

Correct. If you click "no, I'd rather not," the drivers will not be installed.

If you click "yes, I want," it will also work with the drivers.

Of course, one could simply read the steps for commissioning in the manual, if one habitually clicks away all the dialogs and messages. But that would probably be too easy.

Side note: Nowadays, nobody really needs a manual anymore when they want to look something up. The usual little notes in 27 languages and font size 2, warning that it's dangerous to insert the product into the left nostril and remove it from the anus, are perfectly sufficient.

The drivers are located directly in the installation folder (default: c:\Kaufmann\VCDS-RKS).
Start driver installation manually: c:\Kaufmann\VCDS-RKS\DPInst.exe /f

@ Rainer: I've had computers before that were completely messed up because of the antivirus scanner.
that the user was not prompted to install the driver (not VCDS).
I was able to prevent the malicious program from running, thanks to McAfee's comprehensive protection.

I uninstalled everything again and reinstalled it. I always answered "continue" to the prompts during the driver installation, and I did the same this time. The software and driver installation was reported as successfully completed.

When the interface was connected, it was recognized, but now it's not being mounted. Instead, the installation wizard is asking where it should install the software from.

I canceled the previous process, and following Micha's suggestion, I manually re-ran the driver installation (DP... .exe), and now the interface suddenly appeared??? The interface seems to be stuck on the computer now.

There is no antivirus software installed on this computer that could cause any issues.

There is no driver.exe file. DPInst.exe takes the .inf file located in the "Driver" subdirectory and informs Windows what should happen when the corresponding device is connected.
In the case of Windows XP, a dialog box will appear asking if you want to install the driver, and you will need to click "Yes, I want to."

That's how it should be, at least.
