Oil Thermometer Installation: How To?

Hello!
I'd like to install an oil temperature gauge in my Golf, but unfortunately, I have no idea what I need or how to install it. Can anyone help me with that?

I'm assuming you want to install an oil temperature gauge in your car.
As far as my current knowledge goes, there are two different types of sensors.

1. Oil dipstick with integrated sensor.
2. Oil drain plug with sensor.

Find a suitable location inside the vehicle for the instrument. Then, proceed with the wiring (power supply, lighting, sensor connection). You'll need to find a suitable opening in the firewall and carefully route the sensor cable through it. Please ensure careful routing of the cables both in the engine compartment and inside the vehicle, so you can enjoy this device for many miles!

If you have a Golf 3, you can also buy the original temperature gauge and screw it into the oil cooler. You just need to connect it to a suitable display instrument or get a speedometer with MFA (Multi-Function Display).

I have a fourth-generation Golf. Where can I get the parts I need? And does anyone know of a website (similar to a DIY installation guide) that provides a detailed description of the retrofit process?

I bought all my parts online.

- An instrument with lighting costs a little over €20.
- The transmitter in the direction finder costs approximately 17 €.
- Instrument holder for dashboard, €4.95.
- Small items (cables, etc.) are usually found lying around somewhere.

The installation is quite simple and useful.

Could you please post some pictures showing how the display is integrated into the dashboard, and maybe also some pictures showing where you installed it?

I attached the oil temperature and boost pressure gauges side-by-side to the dashboard (Seat Leon) using the included double-sided adhesive pads. This is what the housing looks like.

The product listing even includes a drain plug sensor. However, I opted for a dipstick kit with a sensor because the temperature is significantly higher there than at the drain plug.

The level sensor has two connections (ground and signal). You simply run a cable through a blind plug in the splash guard and route it to the instrument. The display also comes with a detailed, illustrated description, so it's difficult to do anything wrong unless you're completely clumsy, don't have a soldering iron, or lack other helpful materials or tools.
