Check Passat 3BG mileage

Since everyone writes something different on the internet, I'm asking you.
I would like to take a look at and potentially buy a Passat 3BG, model year 2002, with approximately 180,000 kilometers on the odometer.

If I see the steering wheel, I almost think of 280,000 km. The service booklet is present and stamped by VW (which doesn't necessarily mean anything ).

Can I find out the mileage in any other way besides the instrument cluster and the vehicle's registration documents?

No, there's nothing else available for the 3BG.

Possibly information about the repair history, such as service records from VW, or old TÜV (technical inspection) reports.

Apart from that, the steering wheels from the 3B aren't exactly the highest quality. My old 3B's steering wheel also looked very worn. And nothing had been modified – I've known the vehicle since it was new. Unfortunately, the previous person had too much sweat on their hands .

I also wanted to make an inquiry about the FIN.

A car with 180,000 kilometers (approximately 112,000 miles) on the odometer in 2002 could be just as good as one with 280,000 kilometers (approximately 174,000 miles).
My car, a 2003 model, has now reached 243,000 kilometers (or miles). If needed, I can provide a general overview of the repair history for comparison.
The leather steering wheel shows very little wear, while the rubber steering wheel deteriorates quickly. The faux-leather gear knob cover also starts to crumble relatively early.

I'm considering the 130 horsepower 4Motion model as a wagon.
Rust on the fenders and rear hatch is a known issue.
