I have an Audi A6 (C6) here that has a problem where the coolant temperature display occasionally stops working intermittently. Sometimes it's for a day, sometimes for five days, and then it works fine again.
During the subsequent diagnostic scan, only one error code related to the engine control unit (ECU) is consistently displayed, indicating a problem within it.
Today, the error occurred directly during the reading process.
Started the engine and let it warm up. In the engine control unit (ECU), the value from sensor G62 increases steadily as expected. The instrument cluster doesn't flicker or show any abnormalities. The temperature reading on the instrument cluster displays -50°C.
So, I kept the engine running and cleared the error memory. Immediately after that, the needle on the instrument cluster jumped up.
Does anyone have any ideas? It seems like the message isn't being transmitted completely from the engine control unit to the instrument cluster.
Is the G62 sensor in the A6 not a dual-sensor?
