Golf 3 Speedometer with Golf 4 6-speed? No signal.

I'm having a small problem: I have a Golf 3 with a VR6 engine and a 6-speed transmission (GKB: DRW, Golf 4), but I'm not getting a speed signal.

The speedometer has the MFA (Multi-Function Display), and although it was purchased new from VW in 2000, it resembles the part used in models from the years 1995 to 1998, which were equipped with the 2.8L and 2.9L VR6 engines, specifically those with the engine codes AAA and ABV.
