VW Service Update 23Q2: Technical Implications

I have a VW Touran from 2011 with a 1.6-liter TDI engine (77 kW, engine code: CAYC), which unfortunately is also affected by the VW emissions scandal. It does not have AdBlue or the Bluemotion technology.

I now know that my engine not only requires a software update, but also hardware modifications, meaning that certain engine components need to be changed.

What exactly needs to be changed, and what will be the subsequent effects (performance, torque, torque curve, fuel consumption, vehicle tax)?

And how do these same aspects look for the 2.0 CR-TDI engine (with and without AdBlue, also known as Bluemotion)?

As of now, the VAG group has not yet proposed any solutions.
The media is reporting on updates and changes, but this information certainly doesn't come from reliable sources.

When a solution is found, the KBA will definitely notify you in writing.

A buyback offer with subsidies for new cars might also be conceivable for some engines. That would probably be the best outcome for those affected. I would certainly accept that immediately.

In another forum, I found the following information on this topic:

The campaign is scheduled to start in January 2016, and will include a 2.0 update, a new DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) for the 1.6 engine, and new injectors for the 1.4 engine.

What do you think about this, and/or can someone please confirm this?

Das ist alles Spekulation. Eine einfache Lösung gibt es wohl nicht, sonst wäre die schon längst umgesetzt worden. ErLet's just wait and see.
