Hello,

I have a Golf IV with an ASV engine (110 hp TDI).
Can I install the springs from a TDI GTI without replacing the dampers?

Regards,
Benjamin.

Hi,

You can already install the feathers without having any problems with the dampers.
Du verlierst aber die Betriebserlaubnis für dein Fahrzeug. icon_evil.gif

Eibach offers the well-known Pro-Kit spring kits (lowering by 30mm) that work well with the original shock absorbers. You just need to select the correct kit (based on axle load/engine type) and have it approved by the TÜV (German technical inspection authority) after installation, using the included test report.

Die VW Sportfwahrwerksfern sind auch nur 10mm kürzer, kann mir nicht vorstellen das der Umbau irgendwas bringt und sich der Aufwand lohnt. icon_wink.gif

Greetings, Marcus.

At 220 km/h, my car feels a bit unstable, and I'd like to reduce that. I hope the GTI springs will help with that...

Regards,
Benjamin.

Hi,

I find the original suspension on the track to be unbearably soft and floaty, whether it's the standard VW or the VW Sport version.

Forget the GTI springs, take a look at Eibach's Pro-Kit springs, Pro-System suspension, or Bilstein's B12 suspension or B8 Sprint springs.

These parts are already making a difference.

The conversion is actually quite complex; for example, you have to remove the shock absorbers from the front to replace the springs, etc., and it's not worth it for VW springs.

Good luck anyway icon_biggrin.gif.

Greetings, Marcus.

Hmm, I'm very happy with the GTI suspension!

Even at 235 km/h, there was no feeling of instability! (When I had a different engine with a chip installed.)

I've now installed a different brake system and GTI shock absorbers, so I'm selling my 'old' GTI shock absorbers and brake system.
Converting just the braking system would have been more difficult than replacing the entire set of shock absorbers. icon_rolleyes.gif
