Error 4875: Coolant Pump 2

Good day.

I just read the following error code from a friend's car: the engine check light is coming on intermittently.
Does the smell indicate a sensor or cable problem, given the coolant temperature of -273.1° (absolute zero)?
Could a connector possibly have a manufacturing defect?
Has anyone else encountered this error before?

It's possible, but I'd like to take another look at the sensor reading directly, just to make sure the boundary conditions weren't recorded incorrectly. After that, check the cables. If everything is okay there, it will probably be a new pump that's needed.
