I drive a 2005 Touran with a 2.0 TDI 16V engine producing 140 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque (engine code: BKD), equipped with a 6-speed DSG transmission. It currently has 230,000 kilometers on the odometer and is running perfectly. The occasional jerky starts are rare, but in my opinion, it's likely a combination of cold starting and a dual-mass flywheel that is 13 years old.
'I also drove a T5 with a Rail-Diesel 2.0 TDI engine producing 140 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. I didn't notice huge differences, although I did feel that the PD-diesel had more torque at lower RPMs.'
What I've definitely noticed is that the engine behaves completely differently when you use higher-quality diesel (I've been using Aral Ultimate for quite some time now). It feels a bit more responsive and therefore has better acceleration. But that's just my opinion, and it might be specific to my Touran. I don't want to pressure anyone into doing the same thing.
Overall, the PD elements have made a very stable impression on me so far, and I believe they will last for a long time.
Best regards,
Martin.
