Good morning, everyone.
Yesterday was unfortunately not a very good day.
I borrowed my brother's Golf 6 2.0 TDI to quickly run an errand, driving on the highway at 160 km/h, and suddenly the engine speed shot up to the redline, followed by a cloud of oil and the engine literally disintegrating.
Initial damage assessment after ADAC thankfully towed me home and the highway maintenance crew cleaned up all the oil: It's a total loss.
I could see the crankshaft through the dipstick, and a broken oil injector and connecting rod were lying on the steering rack. There were also a large number of engine/piston parts on the underbody protection.
Cause: Unknown. Could be the injector? Or maybe a broken piston, a valve failure... doesn't matter, a new engine is needed.
Unfortunately, you will never find CFFB engines explicitly listed on the relevant websites; they are usually listed as "CFF, CFFA, CFFB, CFFC."
Could there be problems with the engine management system, etc., or could I buy one of the motors and bring my Golf back to life with it?
Best regards, and thank you very much in advance.
Lars.

Without knowing for sure, I claim: NO. Whether it's possible to replace the existing MSG (Main System Ground) needs to be checked. It's always best to do such a conversion with a complete donor vehicle available. Viele Grüße
Andreas

Hi,
It depends on what the differences are between the CFF engines from model A to model C.
It might just be the software (ECU version).
I assume you need not only the engine block, but also the cylinder head, the turbocharger, the injectors, etc.
I would look up (or have someone look up) the part numbers in the AKTE system and compare them.
