Hello,
Can someone tell me how the engine crankcases differ?
To my knowledge, these parts are only available from VW with pistons and other components, which is why there are different part numbers.
But are the bare casings, completely devoid of features, really different from each other?

Best regards, Sören.

The delivered engines already have an engine identification code, and in my opinion, this alone leads to different OE (Original Equipment) numbers.

You might be partially right. However, if the internal components, specifically the pistons, are different, it's clear that the part number would also be different.
That's why my question relates to the bare engine block.

To clarify everything.
The AXR engine has the crankshaft sensor located in a different position compared to the other two engines.
The BKC engine lacks the mounting points for the AGR (Abgasrückführung) cooler from the BLS engine.

In short, a BLS crankshaft case cannot be replaced by either of the two engines mentioned.

Best regards,

Es gibt Motoren mit unterschiedlichem MKB, die Kurbelgehäuse mit gleicher Tl. Have no number.
The best way to ensure compatibility is by using the parts catalog.
It's likely not the case with the three types mentioned above.
