Hi.
I work at a Lipp biogas plant that runs on grain. Unfortunately, it's not like a typical modern facility; it feels more like something out of the former East Germany, where they were trying to make gold out of scrap.
Converting to corn or a similar crop would require modifications and therefore investments in the six-figure range, which is not feasible given the remaining 4.5 years until the end of the EEG subsidy. Additionally, a new operating permit would need to be applied for.
My boss has the idea of bringing in horse manure in addition to grain. This manure is available for free, and the transport costs are largely covered by the stable owners.
We have a BvL mixer wagon available as a temporary solution. If everything works out, it is planned to be converted to electric power. We do have a tractor on site, an IHC 644 with xxxxx operating hours, but it is primarily needed for other tasks due to the front loader, and secondly, it would be overloaded under continuous use and could potentially cause the animals to lift their hooves, which would be counterproductive. These are the reasons for the planned conversion to a 1.7 SDI engine.
A friend of mine has a complete Seat Arosa with a healthy 1.7 SDI engine that we can practically get for free, plus an additional AKU engine that's sitting in the garage.
A local metalworker would fabricate the bracket for us, and we still need to figure out how to connect it to the mixer wagon, but that's something we can solve.
A few years ago, I would have probably sourced a 1.9 TD AAZ engine, but the market is depleted, and complete cars are no longer available at a price that would be worthwhile.
"Now, I could potentially take the entire electrical/electronic system from the Seat, but I would prefer a solution with a purely mechanical fuel injection pump, if that's even possible, to avoid failures with a custom-built solution."
What do the experts say? Is there a solution to run the engine purely mechanically using an injection pump and the corresponding injectors?
Of course, everything should be kept as low-cost as possible, like so many things here.
Thank you for reading.

"What is the size of the mixer? Is it intended to be stationary? If the SDi motor needs to handle it, the 644 model will easily do the job; the X44 models are practically indestructible."
I'm not familiar with the specific circumstances, but if it's supposed to run with an electric motor anyway, I would test it with a tractor and then directly convert it to electric power. Alternatively, you could obtain a motor from an irrigation system or a silage blower; these are mounted on a chassis and have a gearbox to achieve the 540 RPM required for the PTO shaft.
Okay, I understand. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.

"That's where I see the biggest challenge in modifying the SDi engine: the clutch needs to be retained, and a transmission needs to be adapted to achieve approximately the required engine speed."

This is a 12 cubic meter feed mixing wagon.
I'm sure the IHC 644 can handle it, but the other employees here, besides me, have absolutely no technical knowledge. They would run the 644 until it's completely broken, paying no attention to noises... they'd just keep running it until not a single wheel turns.
And if it breaks, I'll have a problem getting it repaired, and replacement parts are also difficult to find. A short test run is no problem, but I'm considering converting it to run on diesel for a while.
To power an electric motor with the required output, a suitable power supply must also be provided. Since we obtain the electricity from the grid operator, a complex upgrade is necessary to connect a ~55kW electric motor that will be controlled by a frequency inverter.
Here, there's a lot of potential, but the financial resources are limited. Sommer: A4 B5 Avant 2,5 TDI Quattro Facelift (AKN silber)

Without having much knowledge, I wonder if there weren't many conversions for things like T3 vans where TDI engines were fitted with mechanical ESP (electronic stability program) systems. Surely, there must be a lot of information about this online.
I'm sure we can find something.
But with such a complicated solution: There isn't that much electrical equipment in the 1.7 SDI engine anyway. Wouldn't it be simpler to take the MSG (Modular Signaling Group) and instrument cluster from an Arosa, along with the key and diagnostic interface, and install them in the car with a waterproof wiring harness?
Or weld the Arosa directly to the wave .

Since it's only going to be a temporary solution, I was thinking about directly adapting a driveshaft from a wheel hub to the mixer wagon, blocking one side of the wheel, and using the entire car as a drive unit. However, we need to assess the available space, as we're really tight on room everywhere.
My problem there is that everything has to happen outdoors, except for small items that I can take with me into the workshop container. Sommer: A4 B5 Avant 2,5 TDI Quattro Facelift (AKN silber)
