Hello,
After over 100,000 km with my Vento TDI (1994, 90 hp, 1Z), I'm now getting a new car:
Bora TDI (2002, 110 hp, ?).
After the first few longer trips in the car, I realized that I couldn't sit comfortably in it.
The standard sports seats adjust their angle when you change the seat height. This is good, but it's not enough for me. My thighs usually lack support and are often floating in the air.
It's mainly because I've adjusted the seat so that I can fully depress the clutch pedal (which is normal). Unfortunately, VW has installed a plastic footrest for the clutch pedal, where you can rest your left foot when you're not using the clutch. Unfortunately, this footrest is much closer than the fully depressed clutch pedal, so I have to angle my left leg slightly, and my thigh no longer rests comfortably.
Aber scThat's not right!
I searched online to see if anyone else had the same problem, but I couldn't find anything.
Am I the only one?
I'm going to adjust the accelerator pedal to be further away from the floorboard. There's still some space there when the accelerator is fully depressed. Has anyone had experience with this, or another solution for this problem?
Best regards,
CH

Okay, let's approach the problem from a different angle. By using an aluminum pedal extension on the clutch pedal, you can raise it by about 2cm. Hopefully, that will be enough.
P.S. My wife is not very tall, so she always had to sit very close to the steering wheel (airbag). The sport pedals solved that problem quite well. Gruß Bertil

Hello,
That would work in a pinch, but unfortunately, I'm not a fan of aluminum wheels on cars.
I don't have to worry about the airbag in the steering wheel, because the steering wheel can be adjusted in (almost) all directions.
I checked it again.
The accelerator pedal on the Bora is probably only 1 cm closer than on the Vento, but it also seems to be much more sensitive in the front area.

Hi,
I'm familiar with that problem, especially with the clutch pedal. However, it's usually due to an incorrect seat position. That's how it always was for me. Try adjusting the seat as recommended in driver safety training, for example, with a distance of about a hand's width between your head and the roof. Your wrist should be directly above the steering wheel when your arms are extended. Your arms should be bent when your hands are in the quarter and three-quarter positions on the steering wheel. They should still be bent when you lean on the steering wheel and push yourself back into the seat. You can adjust this further using the seat's longitudinal adjustment and the backrest.
Over time, you'll find the right setting. I personally got used to the clutch.
However, you can also adjust the clutch cable. In my old A4, this was the case; the clutch engaged halfway, so you didn't need to fully depress the pedal.
By the way, your legs should always be bent in the car; otherwise, you might regret it in a serious accident.
However, I don't understand why you want to push the accelerator pedal all the way down when you already have to keep your foot raised. To me, it sounded like you're still sitting too far back.
Best regards,
Marco.
