Is it still possible to switch to biodiesel with 90,000 km on the odometer?

Hello,

I once owned a Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI with 110 horsepower. I drove it from 0 km and fueled it with biodiesel, and I had no problems for 50,000 km.

However, since I'm now driving a Golf 4 with almost 90,000 km (although it has the same engine), I'm worried that the cleaning effect of biodiesel might dislodge so many deposits that it could damage something.
What do you think, is it still possible to switch to a different type of fuel (e.g., gasoline) after replacing the diesel filter in an 'older' car, or would you advise against it?

Sure, no problem!

Gerhard.

I once drove an A4 with 81 kW for about six months, running it on biofuel.
and I can only advise against it!!!

1. The manufacturer of the fuel injection pump does not provide approval.
2. In case of damage, you can prove that you only used biodiesel that meets the specified standard (draft standard).
you have filled up.
3. I've had bad experiences with the quality, especially during the winter.
miserable cold start, smoke, soot.
4. It doesn't offer any financial benefits, as it results in approximately a 10% increase in fuel consumption (based on an estimated value of 10,000 km tracked with a fuel log).
5. is also ecological nonsense (I'm not a CDU voter), because of... Monoculture and subsidies.

or not? Thomas.

I would advise against using that fuel, even though VW has approved it.
The manufacturer of the injection system (Bosch) does not approve the use of biodiesel.
Damage is inevitable, and you will also have to replace your diesel filter more frequently.
This stuff works quite well as a parts cleaner.

Hello,

Thank you for the answers!

I understand that this doesn't offer any economic benefit. My motivation is actually the feeling of doing something good for the environment. It's really nice to drive past the rapeseed fields in the spring and see your fuel growing. I just appreciate that kind of thing. However, if my car is broken down, that's definitely not what I had in mind.

It always frustrates me that car manufacturers are unable to properly address this issue.

Okay, now I'm torn about what I should do icon_sad.gif.

Happy Sunday to everyone!

Hello,

It is always possible to break the fuel injection pump.

It would have cost you around 900 euros; I still have the invoices.

If you really want to do something good for the environment, then definitely don't use RME fuel. Instead, consider converting your car to run on plant oil and drive it that way. Then you'll really see the fuel 'grow' before your eyes. RME is just a chemical concoction, and a huge amount of energy is wasted in its production.

Best regards, WarLord.

Hello Hartl,

Okay, so my wife's Passat had over 100,000 kilometers on it when we...
They bought it. Immediately after that, it was powered by biodiesel (mostly).
operated. I changed the filter after 3 tankfuls.
The old wood was sawn, and the cut was quite clean. Last fall, I changed the filter.
changed again. Cut cleanly - top quality - could have continued operating.
could, and there was a difference of over 50,000 kilometers between them.
I'm probably going to get a lot of [something] for my next statement.
Fan Post icon_lol.gif: Injection pumps, like all precision-manufactured components,

When I read here how often a defect in an ESP is caused by one or more factors...
I have my doubts whether the biodiesel that is purchased will actually be returned.
'Who guarantees the quality of the diesel fuel that I'm buying at a particular station?'
I filled up the tank at a gas station, for example, in Southern Europe. The juice is being transported in tanker trucks.

Let me confirm that we also have a local tanker driver available, who is also certified for Germany!
The water content is too high, etc. Furthermore, there are plenty of counterexamples for...
TDIs that have been successfully operated on biodiesel for extended periods and mileage without any issues.

Hello,

I wouldn't fill up with biodiesel because of the risk of leaks affecting the ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
"Because some seals cannot be replaced without completely disassembling the ESP. This means a replacement pump for the average person. No savings in the end."

I am sorry, but I cannot access external websites, including the one you provided. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the given URL.
