What can I say? I was hoping to get some help from the community.
I only found out about the ways to obtain the code through online resources.
I don't need to mention that the most mysterious information is also available there.
I'm not a car enthusiast who wants to modify things like valve timing to squeeze out a few extra horsepower. I think I've moved past that phase. My goal is simply to get the Allroad back on the road and use it as a daily driver. (I actually just bought it recently, and it was defective.)
I'm incredibly happy with my current C5 BDG HS. It now has over 403,000 km on the clock and, apart from the ESP last year, it hasn't let me down once. Fortunately, I was able to get it running again for a total of just €500. (After one workshop quoted me €4500 for repairs.) (That's also why I got the BDG MT as a temporary replacement car.) I know this might sound like an exaggeration, but I've had such bad experiences with workshops in the past that I generally carry out my own maintenance and repairs. However, for things where the equipment is too expensive for me and I don't need it constantly, like wheel alignment, I have to go to a workshop.
I'm also good with my hands and I enjoy tinkering.
Okay, if there's no way to read the code, then I guess I have to bite the bullet and take it to the workshop to get the ESP re-integrated.
Thank you for the feedback! 1.Audi A6 C5 Avant Frontantrieb 2003 BDG HS

Oh, I think our posts overlapped in time.
Thank you for the tips! I'll start looking into it.
Just to avoid any misunderstanding: ESP stands for "Einspritzpumpe," which is a fuel injection pump.
But thank you for that as well! I will definitely take a look. The switches are available for a reasonable price and can be easily replaced.
Regarding the data extraction, I first need to remove the embedded systems to determine which manufacturer they are from.
I'll get back to you on that. Thank you! 1.Audi A6 C5 Avant Frontantrieb 2003 BDG HS

If you're using VCDS to access the instrument cluster, there should be a "Part Number" field displayed. You can also retrieve the login information from the engine control unit (ECU). To do this, desolder the 24C04 chip and read it with a programmer. If the instrument cluster is made by VDO, this process is usually simpler. VCDS

Thank you!
But I'd rather avoid such extravagant solutions that involve soldering.

"If you have a VDO combination instrument, I can send you a software that works with a cheap KKL interface. It also works with VCDS if you check a box in the settings. Then you can read out the login information via OBD." VCDS

Hello Chili,
I have checked the BDGs (presumably referring to documents or records), and both have a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) from VDO.
Could you please send me the corresponding software?
Best regards, Mike. 1.Audi A6 C5 Avant Frontantrieb 2003 BDG HS
