Hi,

Here, values of approximately 4-6 milliohms are expected for a healthy starter battery.

That's not easily done with a multimeter. There are battery testers available for that, and they can be quite affordable. They also evaluate the displayed value.

If the multimeter was actually connected in parallel to the battery in the resistance measurement mode, the internal fuse could have blown. This could also result in readings in the megaohm range. In other words: an open circuit.

In the manual for my Fluke DMM, it states "Ensure that the device being measured contains no electrical energy". This likely applies generally to resistance measurements.
The only meaningful way would have been to measure it with a battery tester. "You draw 400 amps, observe the voltage to see if it remains within the expected range (and you can calculate the internal resistance)."
By the way, shouldn't this thread perhaps be deleted?

Hello Andreas,

As an alternative to a multimeter, VCDS is also an option.

Here, you can query the collected values from the IBS.

For an initial overview, all the relevant data is conveniently displayed here. Depending on the IBS (Intelligent Battery System), it may even be possible to query the SOH (State of Health) of AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries.
