You need to know which label file was previously used for the engine control unit, for example, by using an old car scanner. Otherwise, the on-board diagnostics (OBD) system can help, and in the worst case, you can check what information is stored in the engine control unit (ECU).
Then, using VCDS, check what part number is displayed in the engine control unit software.
Then, you copy the previous label file and give it the name (keeping the same extension) that VCDS displayed for the modified control unit.
I believe that tuners renaming software is a bad practice; it only causes stress. "Someone who knows how to, can figure out which software it is, and as a customer, I want to be able to see what's going on in case of an error, and I don't want it to say something like 'File made by Superman'."
But I'm also not the typical customer.
