Good day everyone, this is my first post here, so things might not be perfect yet, please bear with me.

It's a 2007 Audi RS4 B7 with a V8 engine (BNS).

Okay, so here's my problem: I had the engine software modified, and now my VCDS can't find a matching label file anymore, probably because the tuner changed the software.

I found a post where someone else had a similar problem, but it's not working for me the same way.

Perhaps someone here can help me with this, and I would be very grateful for it.

Best regards,

Hello,

You need to know which label file was previously used for the engine control unit, for example, by using an old car scanner. Otherwise, the on-board diagnostics (OBD) system can help, and in the worst case, you can check what information is stored in the engine control unit (ECU).

Then, using VCDS, check what part number is displayed in the engine control unit software.
Then, you copy the previous label file and give it the name (keeping the same extension) that VCDS displayed for the modified control unit.

I believe that tuners renaming software is a bad practice; it only causes stress. "Someone who knows how to, can figure out which software it is, and as a customer, I want to be able to see what's going on in case of an error, and I don't want it to say something like 'File made by Superman'." icon_wink.gif
But I'm also not the typical customer. icon_cool.gif

Best regards, Rainer.

Quote:
; 079-909-559-BNS1.LBL (4.2l FSI @ 420 HP - BNS - Master)
; 079-909-559-BNS2.LBL (4.2l FSI @ 420 HP - BNS - Slave)
; 079-909-559-BNS3.LBL (4.2l FSI @ 420 HP - BNS - Other)

So, append the modified names, which are 1, 2, and 3, to the files when you copy them. icon_idea.gif

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. I no longer have the old scan. Yes, I agree with you; they really should just leave the software version number alone.

I've uploaded the latest scan.
