Hello everyone,
We have a big problem: the fuel injection pump was removed without being secured from the rear.
The impeller (located within the chain case) has obviously sagged slightly, which means the high-pressure pump (CP4) cannot be mounted. While I can easily lift the impeller into the desired position with a screwdriver (the chain tensioner hasn't engaged), it doesn't stay in place. To access the impeller from the back, I would have to remove the entire turbocharger, which I honestly want to avoid.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Is there a way to position the pump rotor and apply tension via the crankshaft so that the rotor stays in place? It's essentially suspended like in a hammock and held by the chain, or perhaps by the driver-side engine mount (which connects to the camshaft)?
I would be very grateful for any helpful tips.
Best regards and have a nice weekend.

Hi, I'm not sure, maybe try lifting the impeller with a strong magnet? But make sure the magnet is securely attached, so it doesn't fall in or get stuck inside, which would create another problem.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer, no, that won't work. It requires completely removing the turbo and disconnecting the pump from the back. That's why I'm still looking for another solution. I don't think rotating the KW (wastegate) counter-clockwise will help; in the worst case, it could release the chain tensioner, which would be a disaster because then the engine might have to come out, or at least the transmission etc.
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"LG" can be translated as "Best regards" or "Sincerely". It is a common abbreviation for "Liebe Grüße", which means "Warm greetings" in English.
