Hello.
After several visits to the workshop and incorrect diagnoses, the problem has finally been identified: the quantity adjuster of the fuel injection pump is defective. Previously, it was only determined that the fuel injection volume was too low, which was causing a lack of power.
The workshop said that this part wasn't available separately; it could only be replaced with the entire fuel injection pump.
Does anyone know if something like this is available for individual purchase anywhere?
Is the exchange process very complicated?
If necessary, I thought about getting a used pump and just replacing the flow meter.
Regards,
Martin.

Ah, so it's happening again: the workshop is clueless and is replacing the fuel injection pump just to be on the safe side...

Either the turnout can be correctly controlled, in which case the reported track position is correct, or it cannot.
If not, a fault entry with emergency mode will be triggered very quickly.
The displayed error message would be clear!
The diagnosis provided by the workshop should therefore be viewed with some skepticism.

If there is a problem with the control valve or high-pressure component, it could make it difficult for the workshop to diagnose the issue without removing the pump. I will not go into further details.

Okay.

You won't be able to fix it, otherwise you wouldn't be spending so much money at various workshops. I'm not aware of any workshop that is capable of replacing the quantity setting mechanism.
Reason: subsequent pump settings, which have been described numerous times in this forum.

Okay Martin, we're not going to get anywhere if you keep posting random hypotheses from various workshops in this forum.
It helps no one, not even you.

You either trust the workshop or you don't. We don't have a crystal ball here, and we can't provide a diagnosis without expertise and the ability to measure things on your end.

Therefore, I would like to conclude this topic.

Hello Martin,

In my opinion, those from VAG don't have enough experience.
in order to assess something like that.
You should take it to a reputable diesel repair shop.
It would be best if these were also included with the pump testing rig.
...had another dynamometer.

I don't know where you live, but it's somewhere in the Essen/Oberhausen area.
I can really recommend a great workshop to you.
They specialize in diesel engines and automotive electrical systems.

They don't exchange them immediately, but can also be used as needed.
Also, it can also be used for repairs, even when it comes to the internal components of the pump.
