Hello,

Ulf asked me a question, and I answered him, that's all! This isn't about putting down PD technology, nor is it about boasting about how fast V6 TDIs can be; it's simply my subjective opinion. I already suspected that some PD owners would feel offended. Of course, PD is the better technology and will eventually be the only option offered by VAG, but at this point in time, it's at least the better choice for me. And honestly, I'm starting to get annoyed with how some people here are trying to badmouth the V6 series because the fact is: a V6 reaches its maximum torque at just 1500 rpm and maintains it until at least 3000 rpm; try doing that with a PD! 2. I haven't seen a single VP37/PD TDI that can easily reach a real top speed of 230 km/h or more on a straight road, at least not before me!!! So what's all this about? This thread isn't about which TDI is better, faster, quieter, or anything else; it's about listing the advantages of each one so that Ulf gets a general overview of the experiences we have gathered. Sorry matthiasTDI96! I just needed to vent, and this is absolutely not directed at you.

The only PD engine that truly sounds rough is the one with 100 horsepower in the Golf 4. It makes a constant rumbling noise, and unfortunately, I don't know why. I've driven four different Golf 4s with this engine, and they all have the same rumbling sound...

Euro4 optimization perhaps?

Not all 74kW engines have D4/EU4 compliance; the ATD engine only has EU3 compliance.

@marco: Where did I say the V6 was bad? Didn't I even write that it's much more harmonious?
I didn't write that my Golf reaches 230 km/h on a flat road. What I wrote was that it achieves that speed every 5 months. And that's not bragging or nonsense. I've never really tried to push it to its absolute limit. It doesn't matter anyway. I hardly ever drive above 200 km/h unless the road conditions allow for it. However, just mentioning this on the side, there's a fairly long stretch of road with a moderate incline on the A4 between Olpe and Cologne, where it can (or rather, has managed to do so twice, as I said I only go that way about every 5 months, and the car is only 15 months old).

Hi matthiasTDI96,

As I said, it wasn't about your post; my reply was simply placed behind yours.
I just wanted to point out that I find it very noticeable and disturbing how, as soon as the word 'V6' is mentioned here, people immediately start complaining from various directions.

Well, you shouldn't take that so personally! I think we're at a technical level where envy doesn't play a role.

In my experience, the V6 engine from the Volkswagen Group isn't exactly the pinnacle of diesel engine technology. With my 8E, I spent a long time considering either the PD_130 or the V6_180, and after extensive test drives, I ultimately decided on the PD_130. Sure, it's a bit more 'rumble-y' than a V6 (as I've mentioned before), but it's more responsive and less thirsty.

Hello,

The PDs seem to be gaining ground slowly, currently at 36% (polling data as of November 26th, 5:50 PM).

After that, 6 drivers continued to use their vehicles, which had accumulated over 100,000 kilometers (approximately 62,000 miles) of mileage.
I'd be interested to hear from people who have experience with specific issues related to Porsche Design (PD) products, such as components like belts.

While planning my next TDI project, I've actually switched from the Ibiza to the Polo.
Recently, it's also available with 96 kW in the completely "basic" version -> with seat height adjustment as an extra, which is exactly what I like: A PD-model with a curb weight of 1155 kg for less than 16,000 euros. icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

(Before another discussion starts: I'm not looking for a car with maximum features and gadgets, but rather one that prioritizes reliability – meaning minimal hassle and unplanned visits to the repair shop.)
And this is most easily achieved through a consistent avoidance of all those electrical and electronic gadgets, which, incidentally, results in the best possible power-to-weight ratio icon_wink.gif).
Gruß Ulf

Okay, that's a word... is it also available for the Lupo? icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif

By the way, I recently had a bit of a shock at the TÜV (German technical inspection agency) with my Lupo. The car is supposed to weigh 1050 kg when empty, but the brake testing machine showed 1120 kg with the driver (inspector). The maximum permissible weight (ZGG) for the Lupo is 1300 kg, so it will be difficult to take even a small suitcase with three people on board (although four are allowed)!

Since you're currently looking at a Lupo, the 1.4 TDI engine is now also available with 90 horsepower in the A2. Will that engine also be offered in the Lupo? We need something new. Or should we avoid buying one?

Is the 96 kW TDI engine now available in all Polo models? I thought it was only offered in the 'Classic' version, and specifically with a trunk.
My girlfriend actually drives a car like that. It's really not a bad car. When you sit in it (in the front), it definitely doesn't feel like a Polo. The engine, however, is a joke: a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine. No power and not really economical. But if there was a 96 kW TDI in it... icon_twisted.gif

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Hi Doc,"

No wonder: the Polo has now grown to almost the same length and width as a Golf 3, with only about 3 centimeters difference.

The "Super Rucksack" Polo only comes with engines designed for a specific customer segment: the SDI three-cylinder, the TDI, and two gasoline engines. That's enough to make some grandfathers lose their minds!

...also, it would probably be too heavy for Ulf... icon_lol.gif
