Hello,

I decided to try doing the inspection myself and I've gotten through almost everything. Now I'm stuck on the diesel filter. The service plan says to drain it. However, I've read here quite often that the diesel supply should remain 100% air-free, so I wanted to ask before doing anything to avoid making a mistake. I've also used the search function and hope I haven't missed anything.

Golf IV ASZ (PD) with 30,000 km (but I believe the diesel filter looks the same as in any other Golf 4 TDI).

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi!
The DIY book contains the following text, roughly translated:

- Disassemble the control valve with the attached pipes at the top (for venting).
-To drain the water, loosen the screw under the filter and allow approximately 100ml of liquid to drain out...
-Always replace the O-rings when installing a control valve.

...is of course special waste, what you are disposing of. So, don't just pour it into the nearest drain icon_redface.gif.

Your concerns about air are relatively unfounded, as the tandem pump also has an "air separator" for positive displacement pumps, so the elements are not affected by it.

Best regards,
dirk

Thank you very much!

It worked wonderfully, and the special waste will be disposed of properly!

Matthias.
