Audi Service Reset: Codes & Instructions

Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with an Audi A4 sedan, manufactured in 1996.
I tried to reset the service interval display according to the instructions posted here in the forum.
I am using VAG-VOM. While I can enter values for channels 5 to 8, the display still shows the service message!
Could it be because I didn't enter the values with 5 digits?
What else could be the cause? The adapter definitely works, otherwise I wouldn't be able to access the control units.

Then I have two error codes that I can't identify.
17736 and 17735.

In parallel, he also had this issue:
00561 - Mismatch.
15-00 - Adaptation limit (add) exceeded.

Is there a general overview of error codes available, without needing to know the specific combination of engine, transmission, and control units?

if you tell me where you got the values for your car? Under https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=3138, the A4 was only available from 1997 onwards. If yours is a 1996 model, then it's possible that there's a different procedure.
Or is your car only registered in 1996, but manufactured in 1997 (which can be identified by the vehicle identification number)?

In my opinion, that's incorrect, because the table (left column) indicates 'until 1997'.

97> means 97 and above, not up to 97!

Sorry, I think you've misunderstood something.

Do they remain stored, or after entering the data and reading it again, are the old data displayed instead?

If the old data remains, there might be a problem with the communication to the combined system. Someone had a similar issue with a Passat not long ago, as far as I remember.

P.S.: I currently have no idea what the error codes mean either.

A contact problem on the connector of the cable for the instrument cluster. After a new timer contact connector was crimped on, the reset was possible exactly as I had tried before. Apparently, the connection was not making a good contact due to the poor connection.

If so, then check the fuel pressure and the fuel injectors (in case of error code 561).
