What actually happens if you disconnect the crankshaft position sensor (G-2 from a perfectly functional TDI engine with a Z1 or AEY engine code, while the ignition is off?
Turn the ignition on, then try to start the engine (which, of course, won't start).
Turn the ignition off again, then reconnect G-28.

Would the engine start again now?

Would the engine only run in emergency mode?

Or, even if there was an error in the diagnosis, would it still function normally?

The engine would start and would not be in emergency mode.
The engine control unit would have an incorrect entry:

G28, no signal, intermittent.

So, are you saying that there's no need to expect any loss of performance? Is that correct?

Then I'll now remove the speed sensor (G28) again.
and I'll take them out of my Vento and swap them.
Then I'll be certain whether it's related to the G-28.

Hey everyone.

I just finished this test, and it was quite a hassle getting that old, rusty speed sensor (G_28) out of the Vento.

The Caddy also won't start with the alternator from the Vento.
But the fuel pump from the Caddy works in the Vento .
So, it's not the G-28!

Okay, then I'm left with only the option of going to the lion's den (VAG), having the immobilizer code re-entered, or does anyone else have another idea???

Worked at VAG. The code was re-entered, but nothing changed.
